Dirty Girl gaiters worked great for me. Mine were psychedelic blue. When I posted a Facebook photo of myself found out my 27 year old nephew wears the same brand but with a dog print. @dougfitz I couldn't find the link to the boot guards but I'd like to try to make some that are waterproof...
I've considered the same light approach with a Gonex 320 g 30 L payback, but take my advice with a grain of salt since ive never tried it on the camino. I bought a hip belt from amazon and plan to sew it to my light back.
Okay, guys, why doesn't anyone ever mention all the rocks you have to walk on on the camino? Big ones, jagged ones, uneven ones, smooth ones!!! If I had known I'd never had brought my trail runners. I think there are some lighter boots around and I would have brought those.
I have walked close...
I'm on the Via de la Plata right now wishing I had tried a little longer to get used to the saucony xodus with the vibram soles. Boy are there a lot of rocks! By the end of the day they've given the soles of your feet a good pounding.
I'm bringing dental cleaning tablets to clean my platypus reservoir. (1 per liter of water) I'm also bringing a small piece of Teflon, duct tape, and a large plastic bag in case of leaks.
I don't know if the image will appear of a shoe lacing configuration to give you more room in your shoes. Thread the shoelace of the first 2 to 3 holes but don't criss cross them. Criss cross the remaining holes as usual as seen in the lower right.
I won't do my camino until September, but, so far, ankle high stockings have worked as a liner for me. I had to go to Amazon to buy the ankle high since knee highs were too long and ankle high are hard to find.
Someone on another post asked about what luxury item pilgrims can't do without. Well my luxury item is Sports Suds weighing 200 gm. I've been using it to wash my workout clothes this summer and I think it's keeping the bacteria count down. 400 gm does 40 loads of wash using 1 tablespoon of...
I have been walking in Patagonia tsalis 3(2 pair) for over a year. I decided to switch to Saucony Xodus 4 because they have vibram soles which I think I need for rocky surfaces on Vdlp. Am I correct in my impression that I need heavier soles for protection?
With 32 days to go, I'm trying to...
I never considered this until I read a post on this forum about the experience of another pilgrim. She said she went through a lot of rain and wound up with shoulder straps that stunk terribly. I figured october might be wet so better to take precautions while I can.
My Osprey Kestral 38 has a rain cover to keep it dry, but my shoulder straps might get wet since I'm going to be wearing a rain jacket and my umbrella may not be enough to protect them. Then there's the matter of sweat being absorbed daily. Any advice about waterproofing the shoulder straps of a...
