Gortex Jackets Vs Umbrellas Vs Cycling Capes - discuss

I’ll be there Sept—Oct too. I hear it’s still hot through a lot of September, so now I wished I’d booked a later flight! But hopefully it’ll be less rainy!

Looking for Long Pants and Shorts with Great Pockets for the Camino

I have a pair of REI convertible pants (pant legs zip off into shorts, but they also side zip so you don’t have to take off shoes). They have great pockets. One has my larger phone in it and the other zipped one has my passport and backup cards. Used Fanny pack for small amounts of cash...

Gortex Jackets Vs Umbrellas Vs Cycling Capes - discuss

I bought one and used it on the Primitivo last June. It was incredibly hot too! It’s also kind of a space hog in my smaller pack. This year I’m going with an umbrella a a very light jacket.

    Day pack

4Monsters. It’s adjustable, lightweight, and compacts into its own attached bag. Last time I used a similar-styled Patagonia and it didn’t adjust short enough. But it isn’t what I’d use to forward my heavier bag. I lighten my load into a duffel and always carry by main pack (even if I only...

    Dimensions of Camino Passport

My credential from American Pilgrims fits inside my Patagonia Fanny pack. But I still keep it inside a plastic bag. My friend didn’t and it got soggy!

    Cell phone sim cards

You remove your home SIM card and store it safely so you can reinstall it when you leave Spain. They are extremely small, but are super easy to take in and out. When it’s out, your number is disconnected. Use your email address for room reservations and the rest. Otherwise you will have to take...

    Cell phone sim cards

I got that same sized SIM card last June in Oviedo at the Orange store for 20 euros. I’d buy in Spain and get another in Portugal. They’ll make sure it’s working before you leave.

Not the same with the private rooms she pre-booked.

Sleeping bag needed in private accommodation on C. Primitivo?

I did the Primitivo last June and every private room had full bedding, including pillows, sheets and towels. I sclepped my own for no reason.

    Pack size and route selection

Your backpack is perfectly fine. Especially since April can be rainy and cool. Warm clothes and rain gear can be bulky! Might I suggest the Primitivo as your route? It’s quite lovely and since you are an experienced hiker, you might like the challenge!

    Camino Ninja

Tell me this isn’t true!!!! I LOVED Camino Ninja last year on the Primitivo. I am looking forward to it this year on the Frances. I was planning to buy a new iPhone this month so it is unlocked by the time I go in September. Is the app not backed up from your old phone so it transfers onto the...

Is Zpacks Vertice rain jacket worth the investment for ultralight hikers?

I purchased a Zpack last year for my Caminó Primitivo in June. I purchased the smaller size and it was too big! I’m 5’6” and 130 pounds. I found it to be cumbersome and hot (and the weather was still quite cool in early June). Even with the pit zippers open, I sweated profusely and was just as...

People with Altra Lone Peak shoes

I loved mine. At first. I walked a number of days and kilometers in them to stretch my calves and get used to the zero drop. As I started on longer treks I kept getting pain and tenderness in my arch. I had to abandon them because I couldn’t get my feet como after walking.

Do I need to pack waterproof trousers & jacket?

No. I wouldn’t. I’m currently on the P No. I am currently on the Primitivo and it’s rained every day. But my rain gear is worse to wear than getting wet! It’s not even hot, but the humidity is so high I am drenched anyway. My merino wool tshirts, panties and sports bra dry really quickly and I...

Need help cutting down on gear/weight in my pack 🙏

I found those disposable spa slippers are dangerous when used on wet floor! Better test a pair in shower at home!
