Pau or Oloron Sainte Marie to Puente de la Reina

I walked from Lescar to Estella in 2019. To Orolon with an app,I still got lost about 4 times. If I were to do it again,I would take 2 days to go to Orolon. There were few markers in France, even road signs. An app was a needed. The train now goes to Bedous, but the walk to Sarrance was very...

Long distances between services on the Aragones

Looking for input on difficulty, stages and your collective wisdom!

I walked the Aragone in september of 2019,starting in Lescar and walking over the the palo de pau, ending in Berdun, which has no albergue. So I did not see any of the path before Arres. In Sanguesa the lady at the albergue said to ride the bus 5km to Liedena as the walk was very dangerous,so we...

    Aragones footwear

Annie, I agree with you. The military says that 1 pound on your foot equals 5 pounds on your back. Watching people on 2 caminos and many years in the cascades,it would seem that wearing boots are a thing of the past. Maybe 1 out of 50 are wearing boots, and these are usually older people who...

    Last thoughts on the Aragonés

Alan. I enjoyed your post. Especially the part about the alternate path you took. I walked from Lescar this september and went over Puerto de Pau down to the Hecho Valley and on to Berdun(which had no restaurant open and no longer has an alberque. I share your feelings about the gite in...

Prehistoria along a very old Camino route (first millennium)

Trail before Sarrance, parajes, crossing road after summit. At the summit that everyone worries about,I would walk along the road,as the shoulder seems plenty wide, and the reccomended way is steep and slippery,as my companion fell several times.

Prehistoria along a very old Camino route (first millennium)

TaraWalks. Thanks for your interest. Check out previous posts for links to guides. There were people in the pyrenees, but once over into Spain, nobody until camping de silva hostal, which was packed. Then nobody until Hecho. A very private walk. I do not know how to send pictures but wish to...

Prehistoria along a very old Camino route (first millennium)

I never heard from Tom,but walked from Lescar to Oviedo over Puerto de Palo. The path in France could have been better marked, but was better in Spain. It was a lonely trip over the mountains, and did not see anyone for three days on the trail.

Samoht, Sorry that I missed your conversation in Feb. I am 74 and have been a beekeeper for 50 years, this coming fall. I start walking from Lescar on September 4 of this year. You have made me so interested in the Col de Pau route, that I am going to go that way and have made reservations in...
