Aragon government plan to build albergue at Somport

Personnaly, I would have liked something between Sangüesa and Monreal. At least there is the Albergue Alsa at Somport.

Aragon government plan to build albergue at Somport

Hmmm... I'm of mixed feelings. The Aragones is one of the best-kept secrets among the Spanish camino routes... :D

Public transport and the Aragones Route: Need advice

I took a taxi from the pilgrim gîte in Jaca [Albergue de peregrinos de Jaca], because the bus wasn't running, but found others there to share it with. The pilgrim gîte in Santa Cilia [Albergue de peregrinos de Santa Cilia] is lovely and they will allow you to stay two days, if you wish, in order...

    Aragones / Invierno advice, please

That I agree--absolutely first class. It is a donativo named after Elias Valina , the guy who came up with the idea of waymarking the trail with the yellow arrows.

    Aragones / Invierno advice, please

It is very impressive--a major tourist attraction I think. While I was there this September there was a Spanish guide giving a group of young people a tour of the grounds

    Aragones / Invierno advice, please

This is the bus if you opt to take it

    Aragones / Invierno advice, please

Yes, I believe I took the bus from Etsaut to Urdos to avoid the road construction last September

    Camino Aragones

I think Karl Oz above said it was out-of-date even in 2018. I'd have a look at Gronze.com and compare. Use Chrome as a browser and you can take advantage of the Google Translate feature for and English language translation.

    Transport Paris to Somport/Camino Aragones

I would start in France. This year I took a train from Paris to Pau and then a bus to Morlaàs where I ended two years ago. You could also take a bus to Lescar [suburb of Pau] and start from there, or a train from Pau to Oloron-Ste-Marie. If needed, there is also a bus [#550] that runs from...

    Camino Aragones

If you walk to Santa Cilia first the pilgrim albergue there will allow you to stay two nights in order to visit the San Juan de la Peña monasteries. The Albergue de peregrinos de Santa Cilia is a lovely albergue as well.

    Camino Aragones

I walked this past September. I agree that Gronze is best. Use Chrome as a browser to have it in English. I stayed in pilgrim-style albergues and donativos and highly recommend the Albergue de peregrinos de Canfranc - Elías Valiña which is 5***** and a donativo ! Enjoy--I think this is my...

    Sunset on the Aragonés

Hope to be there in late September !

Volunteering as Hospitaleros at Arres on the Aragones Route

I actually have a question for you. I am planning on walking the Aragones in September and was wondering if the albergue in Arrés takes reservations.

LIVE from the Camino Opening Day at Canfranc Pueblo!

Hope to see you in September !!

Canfranc may rise again — 5 years later, it HAS!

Thanks for posting ! I hope to pass by there when I continue along the Voie d'Arles/Aragonés this fall.

    My Aragones July 2022

I am following this discussion with interest as I plan to walk this in early October. Is this basically a cash economy--how available are ATMs? I am older [73] and just recently developed some back issues so am glad Correos is available, but may have other unexpected expenses which I've not had...

Guide Books for Chemin d’Arles & Camino Aragones

I've walked Arles to Toulouse in September, considered one the busiest times and found it extremely quiet. I understand it gets busier after Toulouse, so I can't speak for that portion. The Parc Naturel Régional du Haut-Languedoc is very remote, like Jan_D said, and I did carry my own food and...

    Oloron to Somport

It's not in English, but Gronze is very good for the Voie d'Arles. I think actually better than the Miam Miam Dodo at times for this particular route. It's in Spanish, but I use it with limited Spanish as it is fairly intuitive. https://www.gronze.com/camino-arles

    Oloron to Somport

Gronze is fantastic. I highly recommend it over the Miam Miam Dodo having used both for the Arles route. It not only has up-to-date info on accommodations, but the elevation maps are great.
