This is how I feel about Spanish food (sorry)

Jamon Serrano is very similar, stop by a Carrefour or other Supermercados, and you'll see full legs at various prices, the cheapest was €35 for the whole leg! I wish I could have taken one home with me.

    Early Morning Pilgrims - Suggestion

The proper way to handle lights out before 8PM is turn the lights on, house rules is lights out at 10PM, earlier if everyone is in bed. Starting early is your choice, the reason why some start early is because they don't deal well with the heat, they fear not finding a bed. (and will show up to...

    Early Morning Pilgrims - Suggestion

Turn on the lights as you see fit, these early risers have been sleeping the whole afternoon and early evening, they don't have any consideration for you during the day and early evening, and they don't have any consideration when they make all that noise when they wake up at 3-4AM.

    Early Morning Pilgrims - Suggestion

From my experience with the early risers, I would usually catch up to them at my first breakfast stop, and after I finished my meal they would still be hanging out. I knew they wouldn't catch up to me or pass me since they usually stopped walking early.

    Early Morning Pilgrims - Suggestion

You can spot these early riser types right away, if you show up mid afternoon, they are all washed up and spend the whole afternoon napping away, then they try to turn the lights off before 8PM, sorry lights off is at 10PM or earlier if all the other pilgrims agree. What I learned is most these...

    Albergue kitchens

Opinel No.7, No.8, or No.10 with corkscrew for the ultimate Camino knife. If you plan on cooking your own meals, a good knife is a must. I Need my Morning Coffee :)

I had coffee from a drip coffee machine twice on the Camino, at the municipal albergue in St. Jean Pied de Port served in bowls (a French thing,) and Hornillos del Camino (private albergue.) Everything else was made with a commercial espresso machine, and I never had a bad cup the whole time in...

Smuggling Hams back to the USA

I was in Carrefour in Burgos and saw various prices for the whole leg of ham, the lowest was €35. You don't want to get caught trying to bring prohibited items into the US, getting caught will black list you into CBP's database to send you to secondary inspection each and every time you cross...

Entering France with a "Deported" stamp in my passport

I know Canada is like that for US citizens convicted of driving under the influence (DUI) or other crimes, you won't be able to enter Canada with one on your record.

    Spanish Cultural Faux Pas

Be on the lookout for the white Mercedes Sprinter vans with the loud horns, some of them sell bread, seafood, produce, and cleaning supplies for the smaller towns that have no stores, I bought my first kilo of cherries from one on the way out of Roncevalles, If I heard the loud horn, I checked...

    Carry or have carried.

Hundreds of years ago, the elite and wealthy probably didn't carry anything, they had porters or pack animals for that, they probably rode on horse or donkey as well. I don't know what the OP's situation is, if having his belongings transported ahead will help him complete his Camino, prevent...

    Carry or have carried.

Tailor YOUR Camino to YOUR abilities and limitations, the only disadvantage by having your personal belongings transported is you are bound by where it gets delivered to.
