    Confused over date format

The ISO format is yyyy-mm-dd. I find it much easier since when I see 03-05-2024, depending on the source, I can't tell if it is May 3rd or March 5th. With the ISO format there is no confusion.

    Do you collect a Compostela?

I do have a Compostela…somewhere. When I’ve gone everywhere else in the world and done everything else, maybe I’ll go back and try for another.

    Crinkly Plastic Bags

Entitled selfishness is expecting everyone else to change their behaviour because you don't like it. If I don't like the noise I wear earplugs, if I don't like the headlamps I wear a sleeping mask. It's my problem so I find my solution. I can't control what other people do but I can control my...

    Crinkly Plastic Bags

I’m pretty sure nobody is trying to be noisy on purpose. If anyone has issues, then they should wear earplugs.

    Guitar on the Camino

I met Minjung while on the CF and her music was so uplifting. We encountered each other a few times and I was always amazed that she carried her guitar in addition to her regular pack. She's back there now Minjung on the CF

    Men's grooming

Just shaved in the shower every couple of days. Fast and easy.

My pilgrimage in a word: extraordinary! Yours?

Never say never but I also have no plans to return. I had an amazing time but there are far too many places that I have yet to see, new challenges and experiences that are waiting,

Cafe con Leche / Coffee on the Camino: Enquiring Coffee Lovers want to know!!

I don't drink milk so I've never had a café (con leche/latte/au lait) but it's fine because I like the taste of coffee. I would just order a café solo. I remember being in Asia and my beverage of choice became the "long black". When I got back home I tried ordering it at a Starbucks and nobody...

    Rest days

I had built a few days in just in case but luckily never needed them. My friend speaks Spanish so she was able to find a place for us and we spent the time unwinding in Santiago.

So why am I addicted to the Camino?

I guess I’ll be the contrarian. I have done the CF and I feel no need to do it again or any other for that matter. Never say never but there are too many places I haven’t been to for the first time. New friends to make, new cultures to experience, new foods to try, etc. Perhaps when I’ve...

CF Bed Bug Poll - For Those who were Bitten Only

I was bitten on 2 separate occasions and both times were when I used albergue blankets. Maybe they were hiding out

    Why the hurry?

If someone asks me a simple question I try and give a simple answer, not a deflection, evasion or throwing a question back at them. If that then leads to other comments, judgemental or not, then I would play it by ear as to the response.

Possible explanation of why some of us do multiple Caminos or the same Camino multiple times

Nope...still don't get it. With so many new places to visit, new things to do and experience I don't see me going back anytime soon. And yes I've heard how it's not the same because I'm not the same, I stayed at different albergues, different routes, etc. To each their own.

    Avoiding the breakfast trap?

Coffee and Tortilla a couple of hours into the morning.

When all the beds are full...

Slept on a gym floor in Zubiri and was glad to have it as nothing else was available. Larrasoana was closed for a festival if I recall correctly so Zubiri felt the impact

CF Bed Bug Poll - For Those who were Bitten Only

I'm pretty sure the times I was bitten was when I used the albergue blankets. My sleeping bag was treated so that wasn't the issue and luckily they stayed where they were. To be on the safe side I washed and dried everything and put my pack in a garbage bag and lay it in the sun. The nice...

Are you a secret Julie Andrews????

Absolutely. We were singing a bouncy Christmas tune in September when we got overtaken by a fellow peregrino. I don't think we were dancing at that particular time though.

    Snoring in albergue!

If you are disturbed by someone snoring, it is your problem not theirs. I'm pretty sure they are not doing it on purpose. As has already been suggested, wear earplugs, or if you recognize them, make sure your bed is as far away as possible.

Has anyone used DuoLingo to learn Spanish?

It is more Latin American based.
