    Jubilee Year of Hope 2025

So the expectation will be for 2025 to be busier than normal (whatever normal is)? Do these things affect the whole routes, or generally the last say 100K type issues?

Has the dog “policy” on the Camino changed?

Maybe day hikers, or maybe they are camping perhaps? I think overall on the Camino's there are more people doing it with their dogs, although the numbers are still small with logistics problematic.

    Camino Dating

What a wonderfully magical beautiful serendipitous story - almost too much for me on a Sunday morning. Thank you so much for sharing, and I hope both of your Camino's continue in such a beautiful loving manner.

Is 7 day walk enough to feel the Camino?

Yes definitely. I think when you know you will be walking for such a long time you are automatically in a different vibe/mindset to what you are if you are just walking for a week - this is very true. So me actually comparing how I felt 2-3 days into my 33ish days is probably not going to be...

    Social anxiety on the camimo

What an amazing post @lovelyshell . Allowing the Camino to happen around you is the best way to walk. You can still make the decisions to chat to the pilgrim you feel you want to, or just do your own thing, but nothing should be forced. One thing you will find, generally, is that people on the...

Is 7 day walk enough to feel the Camino?

Yes definitely, although we are all different. From day 2 or 3 the Camino already had me hooked. It may also depend on which part or path you are choosing for those 7-10 days.

    Accommodation worries

Is this the same all days of the week @Ianinam at Roncesvalles? Surely there is a spike with people starting at the weekends? It's disheartening to hear that those reserving are afforded better beds than walk-ins, I can only assume there is a higher cost for reservations.

    Accommodation worries

I am sure you will be fine. For all of the drama I don't recall anyone has been left sleeping on the streets - yet. If you can, start your Camino on Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu and aim to miss the big cities/popular stops at weekends. And aim for the true Albergues where booking is not permitted. A lot of...

    Partially unplugging from the world

Yes! This was one of the amazing things about my Camino, I knew virtually nothing of what was going on in the world (which is generally bad anyway) for my whole Camino. This had a massive influence on my well-being to not be constantly bombarded with bad news.

    Partially unplugging from the world

I blogged at the end of each day, and I love my photos which I'd post the odd few on my Instagram story when I stopped for a bit through the day. The photos would also then go on the end of day blog post(on FB for family and friends who wished to follow). Even the blog was stretching my time...

    Partially unplugging from the world

Go old school - phone calls only if someone needs you. Turn off all internet. Disconnecting is easy - having the discipline to do it is hard.

LIVE from the Camino Account of a very challenging day SJPdP to Roncesvalles (crazy weather)

So glad you made the most of your first day and it all went as well as can be expected in the difficult conditions. I hope you get the other things sorted and can enjoy and get the most out of what I'm sure will be an amazing experience for you on this beautiful path.

    Accommodation worries

One of my favourite stays, a very basic uninspiring building, right next to a church and run by nuns of the order of Malta. Ideally situated to hit Alto del Perdon at sunrise which is just beautiful. A good choice if the beautiful madness of Pamplona is not your thing. +1 for this place. Grab a...

New Camino Movie -The Way My Way - World Premiere

Was just having a Google to see if there were anymore reviews (which there aren't yet) and came across this which shows the process, and how Bill arrived with the actors and none actors he did. https://pgstheway.com/2023/06/04/casting-the-way-my-way-part-1/...

New Camino Movie -The Way My Way - World Premiere

Interesting review. I guess there are obviously going to be two camps, those that have done the Camino and those that haven't. I can understand re some of the acting, but perhaps this is more pronounced if you are a film critic watching the movie because of course it is unlikely non-actors are...

    Lost and found

A microfibre towel and small a thing of liquid washing detergent were casualties of my CF. After a combination of a couple of days of air drying and using what I was about to wash (minus the washing detergent of course) to dry myself we hit the Decathlon in Ponferrada for a nice new one. Didn't...
