Sounds about like me, plus micro bottle of alcohol, antibiotic, zycam cold med, roll of Tums, razor knife, sewing kit and microbutane lighter. Smaller than deck of cards, but tube of Voltaren, Vaseline and sunscreen take most of pack waist belt pouch. Don’t forget the 20 cm length of plastic...
Lots of albergues have lots of random books in various languages in the common areas. Suggest you just do the swap, or if it makes you feel better, ask the host if its OK.
The correct answer is: infinite. Whatever your credential, you can create and add gridded out pages to it. It gets full; just add more pages using plain paper and grid them out with pen. For me, I get an American Pilgrims on the Camino credential. I use a pen grid out all of the extraneous...
While walking the Camino in 2017, I met a lady from Ireland who, while walking as a pilgrim about 2 years prior, fell in love with a Spanish man. I have encountered her on every trip to Spain since then. Last year when I met her for the 6th time, she announced they were finally getting...
This pilgrim hikes, bikes, stretches and does gym workout right up to the day I leave. Lord knows the 16 hours of driving to airport, sitting on that plane, waiting 4 hours in Madrid for plane to Pamplona and conniving a ride to SJPP is rest enough. Unless weather is very bad, I'll head up the...
I have been using Wise Pilgrim for various Caminos since 2018, but on del Norte last fall, it was very lacking on accurate info regarding variants, and not up to date on newer reroutes. About 1/2 way through I downloaded Buen Camino, and found it to be a very welcomed supplement.
Agreed! I concede the point. I should have said invented in the land that was to become Maine. 😆😋🤣
And so was Maple Sugar Candy, which also might be a good idea to take to Spain as gifts.
Mix fireball whisky with rum chata. Tastes like cinnamon toast crunch.
My invention: one shot fireball, one shot Natural Bliss Vanilla coffee creamer, 3 shots 100 proof Captain Morgan spiced rum, sprinkle in some nutmeg and throw in a few ice cubes. I call it a rum fizzle!!
You use the marshmallow fluff with Peanut Butter (better send that, too, as it is very hard to find in Spain. I prefer super crunchy) to make a FlufferNutter sandwich. Send Marshmallows and Graham crackers to make s'moors. Better use Spanish chocolate bars; darned site better than Hershey's...
Of course everyone is different, and the ratios you seek are different for everyone. For instance, I was very apprehensive of all the toils you describe, so I trained and prepared extensively prior to my first Caminos. Result: I never got blisters; sweat and brilliant sun in mid/late afternoon...
I watched the movie hundreds, maybe over a thousand, times. I vote 10. The movie is iconic by definition, and it has informed and compelled thousands, more likely hundreds of thousands of people to walk the Camino.
I first saw the movie as a rerun on HBO in 2015. I thought it was a nice...
Ageed. I usually stay in albergues, but once in a while as the day progresses, I might want a hotel. Usually book sometime between noon and 5pm day of stay. Flexibility is key.
I arrived in Burgos about 10am on that day last year. Most cafes were closed (maybe they opened later) and so were 5 pharmacies I checked. Took me quite a while to find coffee and snack.
