UK Telegraph headline "Bedbugs carried into Spanish hotels by Christian pilgrims" - reference to Camino Portugues

And here's a story (today 24 October) about Russian fake-news bedbugs in France. I read that, after the bites of bedbugs themselves, the second most common symptom is the paranoia and neurosis that the fear of bedbugs causes amongst hospitaleros, caminantes and periodistas. No mention of...

UK Telegraph headline "Bedbugs carried into Spanish hotels by Christian pilgrims" - reference to Camino Portugues

It's not just the BBC or Daily Telegraph, there's something of a scare campaign running all across the media. All I can say is that i have been lucky - so far - and in more than ten years of walking the camino inc time as an hospitalero (where we used to steam clean, hot wash, etc on the...

You should stop in Rabanal del camino and take a glass of vino ecologico at Posada de Gaspar (on the right, going up, just past the church)

How fast do you walk on the Camino?

Thanks for the invitation: I need to finish my VdlP first, but I do want to walk the Aragones sometime. Don't think I'll ever go back to the CF though - too crowded!

    After the Camino

Thank you - is it right that the reredos (retablo) has been lost? I attach some before and during pictures - I don't suppose you took any pictures of what the interior looks like today? My regards Peter

    After the Camino

I have twice extended my Camino to visit Muxia, to eat in a fabulous restaurant on the seafront called Cordobes, run by a man called Arxires - personally in my five decades of travel, the best in the world. However, I have not been there since the church was struck by lightning and burned down...

    Spiritual, Religious, or ??

Are Mass and other rites open to non Catholics? I distinctly remember the old priest at Roncevaĺles telling the congregation that the host was only for true believers ie Catholics

    Spiritual, Religious, or ??

What, please, is the difference between 'spiritual' and 'religious'? Am I right to think that 'religious' means someone who buys into the whole Catholic tradition, including the squawking cockerel at Santo Domingo, the stone boat, and the knight riding out of the water covered in covered in...

Greece financial crisis spreads to Spain and Portugal

Is there a figure for the financial benefit to Spain of the Camino? 250,000 pilgrims on the Camino frances for an average of 35 days spending 25 euros per diem = over 200m euros, but this calculation is pretty crude. Is there a better figure?

Are you 70+ and still walking Caminos?

Set off to reach Santiago for my 70th birthday, the first person I met on the climb up to Orisson (and the only person walking slower than me), was an 84-year US doctor and we kept each other company as far as Pamplona. Have been back most seasons since and next year am starting the VDLP.

Rodrigo is right: do not use plastic bottles on the Way. Elsewhere on this forum I have campaigned for single-use plastic bottles to be banned. They are a scourge at all times, in all places, not least on the Camino, see...
