Joining a communal meal in an albergue without spending the night there?

I agree. That is the best of all worlds.

Joining a communal meal in an albergue without spending the night there?

Yes, you can get a private room in some albergues but many don't have private rooms. I simply can't sleep in the room with other people. I stay in albergues when I can get a private room. It's great to be with other pilgrims. Some guidebooks indicate whether albergues have private rooms or not.

Half Way Certificate Compared to End Compostela

In 2019 I got my halfway certificate in Sahagún in the Iglesia Señora de la Peregrina. There is a statue of the Virgin here dressed as a pilgrim. Parts of this church are from the thirteenth century. I believe this church is now basically a museum. As I remember there are walls/structures from...

    Ending my Camino: What Now?

I will never forget the morning after my first Camino, I got up and was moving slow. I thought, well Ron, of course, you are tired after walking so many days. And then I realized that if I had been walking that day I would have been filled with energy! Instead I was slightly depressed and...

    AA meetings on camino?

It is an amusing phonetic spelling of New Orleans (the way some folks pronounce it). I lived there long ago for 5 years--other wise I would not know either.

Starting in 5 days and close to panic!

Hi Fritz, I've walked 3 times. Each time I had "night fears." I would wake up in the middle of the night and say to myself, "You're going to do WHAT?" Once I got there, there was no other place in the world I wanted to be. And now I'm thinking of going again, and my night fears still say...

    Pilgrim age

I celebrated my 71st BD, my 72nd BD and my 74th BD on the Camino. I'm 75 now and hope to celebrate my 76th Birthday on the Camino. On my first Camino, I suffered the first 5 days with a torn meniscus. It stopped hurting and hasn't hurt since! My advice: listen to your body. I don't mean pay...
