    RIP @annakappa

Such sad news to log on to here. Anna and Fraluchi were such a huge part of this community when I first started researching all things Camino. Their legacy will live on here with our search engine, their sharing will continue. Rest in Peace!

Knocking on doors to find a place to stay

I just slept in a bus shelter on the RV, it was perfect! And with five kids in tow from le puy to Santiago I slept in worse places than that. I would never knock on a door to ask for a place to sleep either, I am a “ trail angel” in the US and help hikers with food, accommodation , grocery runs...

    Personal Acts on The Camino

I/ we adopt old and dilapidated animals, we see death in the family a lot due to this. Each Camino we make it Muxia to throw in a SCOOP ( I can only surrender a scoop of them) of each ones ashes. I’ve done a few Caminos with kids and they’ve been instructed to throw me in there one day ( they...

Dull, boring, urban and sketchy (sketchy?)

Yikes! I responded after reading the initial post and didn’t notice other responses or that this thread started a fire. I stand by my post, not to judge, but to encourage folks that the camino is an onion with layers of experiences that define it. I’ve never understood the “ ugly” “ boring”...

Thoughts on “Santiago - the Camino within”

Just reading the words “I’ll push you” in your post gave me goosebumps and tiny tears in my eyes. While I love the camino as much as anyone this movie is so much more! The best of the best, and I’m just honored to get a glimpse of such a friendship.

Any gyms on CF with day passes?

Post several Caminos, I innocently giggled at the question… but ( bare with me incase that sounds disrespectful), I will admit prior to my first camino I had images of my arriving to towns and then “ taking a jog” to see the town… I didn’t remember those thoughts some 11 years later until I...

Art work- Holding Camino memories a Camino fire Ball

Years ago I fell in love with this artist's work, Eva from Fireball Firepits. I had a dream of hiring her to capture the Camino I did with five of my children in 2016. It took me a few years to plan, desire, and financially pull off, but in these past few months I have what I dreamed of . She...

Cats on the Camino: Strays or Pets? Etiquette for Feeding Them

Possibly the best advice I’ve seen here, “ be yourself”…

Cats on the Camino: Strays or Pets? Etiquette for Feeding Them

We had a kitty actually LEAD us on trail our second day on the Le Puy route… she clearly did this everyday, she was hoot. She seemed to know when to turn around. This is not advice nor reassurance… just a moment that your post reminded me of, she was like a dog!

    Leaving small children behind

I’m typing quickly but I left six kids at home in 2012, my hubby had them make a video the night before with each recording the video. They are so sweet! Then , and I treasure it to this day, they made a wall map of my trip and a paper doll kind of figure of me… and they moved it along the...

    I have lost myself

Mendi Walker was a HUGE gift to this forum, the others I sadly don’t know but have no doubt they were too! Thank you for recognizing Mendi Walker who was/ is a pilgrims pilgrim!

    I have lost myself

Matt I’m sending a huge hug! Such vulnerability… I think it’s important since you adore your spouse so much to turn your attention to the two of you. Such good advice here, maybe a gratitude journal, or even something outside of a concentration on the videos of your camino. A concentration of...

    I have lost myself

VNwalking! Not certain I’ve ever read anything re: Camino advice better than this! Tears in my eyes beauty! I want to just sit with coffee and here such thoughts for hours , or on hike. I suspect way more than Matt needed to hear this. I too didn’t feel “ just plan another Camino” was the...
