My sister in Australia sent me this story tonight.
Claude Tranchant's pilgrimage from France to Spain
Claude Tranchant is gleefully honest. "I had no concept, none at all, what walking was about."
The French-born Brisbane grandmother is talking about her 2,200 km pilgrimage on foot from...
It can snow in April - several times along the way - so those rain pants might come in handy to retain body heat, depending on what else you are taking to keep you warm.
Aarn now has universal balance bags that can be added to any other pack. It can also be used as an add-on with a back baby carrier.

Well, I specifically worded my question to clarify that and was informed it was acceptable. What is the difference between walking 1oo km TO Santiago from Fisterra via Muxía, and walking 100 km TO Santiago from Sarria, as long as it ends at the Cathedral?
NO WHITE AT NIGHT!
When was the last time you were surprised whilst driving, by someone at night walking or riding on the road, wearing dark clothes, and you thought to yourself, "Why aren't they wearing white." It seems white is not enough. When you see it you are already too close to avoid a...
Any 100 km will do. I clarified that quite some time ago when I first ran across comments about Sarria onward. One could start at Santiago de Compostela, walk to Fisterra and then to Muxía [or reverse order] and back to the Cathedral and you would qualify for a Compostela. Perhaps the answer...
Requiescat in pace, peregrina ....
A roll of this could be used to add reflective stripes to packs, pack covers, pants, back of boots, front and back of hats, etc. There are versions of this that are sew-on as well, that will handle washings...
Here in Southwestern Ontario, Canada, temperatures at this time of year "normally" vary from the high teens to the low 30s C. Yesterday was sub-zero C. Very rare but not unknown.
Requiescat in pace, peregrinos.
Using the same molding technique, a carving could be made of the current handprint in a marble piece that could be mounted in front of the tree in which pilgrims could place their hands. Alongside could be a multi-lingual explanation of the historic nature of the Tree of Jesse, the damage...
Hopefully this means bureaucrats came to their senses since a year ago when they were threatened with closure?

FWIW, two friends walked the Francés in April-May this year and one suggested -- without further comment -- that I might enjoy the Caminho da Porto - Coastal [Green] route much better. After reading Johnnie Walker’s and others’ comments in light of these discussions, I am inclined to agree...
I've seen a number of people post in the Forum here that they have simply taken a picture of each page of the guide with their cell phone ... then it is there with no additional weight, and you can zoom in :)
You do Brierley a disservice by criticizing him while using an out-of-date guide...
This company's products are available on-line but I found them available free through my local library's on-line connection ... for more language than I even knew existed. http://www.transparent.com The learning process is a combination of listening and speaking, reading and writing, and I've...
Once you are above a certain height the vertigo goes away. You may have found that when you were skydiving ... by the time you get to the point you feel the ground rush and want to panic, you are too busy preparing to land and then it's all over. :)
As everywhere, weather is unpredictable. A friend walked this year starting from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port on April 9th and made Roncesvalles in 10 hours. She did not post any pictures that day, nor did she mention snow, and I'm sure she would have done so ... though the photo she took in SJPdP...
Re: Just returned from the Camino....Advice to others 60+ years
Thanks so much for your wonderful report and encouragement, Neil. I was planning on going this fall, but air fares from Canada are substantially higher in that season until you get late in November, so I am postponing until next...
Re: "Walking the Camino: Six Ways to Santiago"
You may be waiting a while, Fred ...
As time passes and ideas move from far-out dreams to possibilities to reality, and now that the movie is doing so well at the independent film festivals, the end goal moves out from DVDs and a possible PBS...
