Injured American Pilgrim in Hospital Rio Carrion needs urgent translation help

If she has a smart phone and internet access, she could download Google Translator and then install the Spanish dictionary. Could be a solution in the interim.

    Honeymoon on the Camino

Thank you to all for your words of encouragement and personal tales. I'm not sure if I'll make it to celebrate a 50th anniversary on the Camino though. At 93 it may be beyond my physical capabilities. You never know though, staying fit by walking Caminos and having a lot of that Spanish olive...

    Honeymoon on the Camino

Thank you Lynne. Wow, a 50th anniversary! That's some achievement. :-)

    Honeymoon on the Camino

Thanks Laurie. I'm 43 now and my better half is 30. I'm glad that we have discovered the Camino at this point in life. I think that the experience will really solidify our relationship and make one another an integral part of ourselves for years to come.

    Honeymoon on the Camino

Thanks for the tip Amanico. Decisions, decisions :-) The Primitivo sounds like a great idea and avoiding the crowds is always appealing, but my fiancee just rejected the idea as she has her heart set on the Frances. "Darling, please shut up." If that's not love, what is??? ;) I have the distinct...

    Honeymoon on the Camino

That's pretty cool ManyMiles. Glad to hear that you re-connected. There's no reason to wait for another anniversary though before getting out on the Camino again. We're already planning our next Camino together before this one is even finished!

    Honeymoon on the Camino

    I like this too! :-)

    Honeymoon on the Camino

Thanks Tom, we have already walked the Frances from SJpdP together so I guess it's quite fitting to finalise it this way. People say that it can go either way for couples on the Camino; either it strengthens the relationship immensely or tears it apart. I'm happy to say that for us it was...

    Honeymoon on the Camino

Well it's about that time in life when one says "I do". My fiancee and I are tying the knot in 4 weeks and will be having our honeymoon on the Camino; walking the last part of the Frances (from Astorga to SdC) over Easter and then on to Finisterra and Muxia. I'm not sure that it's going to be...

What is the one Albergue that you would say not to miss

This sounds very interesting in my never ending quest to find vegetarian food on the Camino. This would have to be the only one of its kind I'm sure. It sounds significantly better that the side of "vegetables" I ordered in a restaurant in Santiago last time which was no more than baby food slop...

    Metal people on the Camino

How nice to see these figures without grafitti. In May last year when we were there they were covered in spray paint. Why would someone do such a thing? The mind boggles...

    Weather statistics April

That sounds like May 2013 ;)

Is there a part of the Camino that you could walk comfortably for 10 days starting Dec 28th

I'm starting the Portuguese from Porto on 26 Dec. I'll be in Santiago in 9-10 days to see the Botafumerio swing on Jan 6. John Brierly offers some comforting advice in the Camino Portuguese guide book (which the pilgrim super-egos in this forum find objectionable for some self centred reason)...

wonderful meals along the Camino Frances

The point about the good company is very true. The night of the peas was actually one if the funniest nights we had on the Camino. I had tears in my eyes we were laughing so hard. Another thing I just remembered was the incredible little pastry shop in Los Arcos on the main drag just before the...

wonderful meals along the Camino Frances

Last time I was craving veggies, was in Los Arcos and ordered the mixed vegetables. For some reason I had envisioned something similar to a Japanese stir fry with crispy snow peas. I got peas alright, only peas, in fact an entire bowl of just peas which I think had been quickly emptied out of...

wonderful meals along the Camino Frances

The best meal we had (so far) was at Deportivo in Navarette, cooked by an Italian chef who was known to one of our group. An absolute masterpiece. Never EVER go through Navarette without stopping here for the pilgrim menu!

    Pilgrim's Mass at Burgos Cathedral

Hmm, not that I've experienced this particular problem, but at a guess the .kml file type has not been associated with Google earth or its an old version.

    Pilgrim's Mass at Burgos Cathedral

    Have you installed Google Earth?

    Pilgrim's Mass at Burgos Cathedral

Ah yes, this is helpful information. From memory last time we didn't find the right chapel 'til it was too late. We didn't want to interrupt the service by waltzing in in the middle of it, announcing "Hey guys, you can start now, we're here!" I must check the bus timetable again. I think 19:30...
