    Getting from Orisson to Roncesvalles

@trecile is totally right! That alternative on the right is very doable. I did it on my first Camino many years ago. Not a hiker and in terrible shape 😝💪🏽

    Rough In Planning Support

I looove planning! Its part of the experience for me. On my first Camino I was stressed about keeping to the plan - "what will I do if it does not work". The camino had a couple of lessons for me, one of them being that my plans dont work. My body behaves different from day to day etc. So now...

    Correos Luggage transfer

Yeah! The price for the Norte from Bilbao to Santiago was a little bit over 200 euros. Which is much cheaper than booking along the way. Will give it some more thought, but I feel that is a good solution.

    Correos Luggage transfer

I am wondering if I should book this as it looks really "cheap" this far in advance. I still wish to carry my pack as much as possible, was it ok to book the transfere the night before and was there any issues with skipping stages? Thank you so much in advance! EDIT: I am walking the Norte so...

Quieter Routes to SDC: Departing from the CF

Totally agree with @peregrino_tom. I walked the last part of my Camino in May/June last year. After Sarria the numbers went up, and yeah in some moments there were a lot of people on the way. But it almost always just lasted for a little while. I either got in front of them, or behind them. I...

Walking at 4 am. Under a full moon?

Last year on the Frances two girls from our dorm room informed us that they were going to start walking at 4.15 so that they could walk under the moon eclipse. Almost all of us in the room joined in (6 out of 7). It was an amazing experience, we saw 1/3 of the eclipse and than the clouds came...

Accommodation on napoleon route if Orisson is closed

Or you could use Express Bouricout. Then you can walk to for example Le Croix, get picked up, sleep back in SJPDP, and they will deliver you back to the same spot the next day.

LIVE from the Camino Camino De Santiago beginning in Leon

So sorry to hear about your troubles. On my last camino last year I had trouble with som deep blisters and took a rest day in Ponferrada where I visited a privat foot-therapist/podiatrist. He cleaned them out, taped me up, gave me a care rutine and ask me to take a day of - at the cost of 30...

    Early risers extraordinaire!

The first night of my 2022 Camino I was in a room with 6 other women in Villar de Mazarif. Two of them told us that their plan was to get up at 3.45 to walk in the moonlight - it was supposed to be a lunar eclipse that night. The conversation fast turned to all of us but one deciding to walk...

wondering where to start, and if I've trained enough

I love C clearly's reflections! They make so much sense. I myself started my first camino in 2016 from SJPDP by using Express bouriricot. They drove me up to La Croix Thibault and I then walked over the top myself. One can aslo use them to split up the walk and have them pick you up after a...

LIVE from the Camino I’m on my way

If you get a chance to visit and it is still open there is a magical place called Hospital del Alma. I loved it in there. Castrojeritz was the end of my last Camino and that place was where I cried for an hour. And I needed it.

Has anybody used Bourricot Mountain Shuttle on stage 1?

I have used the shuttle but just to be able to skip the ascend and walk from the cross. So I do not know about the afternoon pick up. But I do agree with @Kathar1na - if you have made it to the cross you can probably make it all the way to Roncevalles in the same day. So maybe stop at Vierge...

LIVE from the Camino I’m on my way

Same thoughts @SabineP ! I am not a violent person, actually quite mellow. But that one would have pushed some real buttons. And if you had gone of @Eve Alexandra I think I would have been in your corner. Uuups... is that ok...? Sleep well and buen camino!

    Hospital del alma

This year my Camino ended in Castrojeriz yesterday. I had a short walking day from Hontanas and I cried all the 9 kilometers. When I reached Castrojeriz I went to Hospital del Alma - it was the perfect end to my Camino. I went there one more time later in the evening when I was a little less...
