    Heel Cracks

The natural vaseline is called Waxilene made with soy oil. It works great, smells nice and I took it on the Camino as an all round moisturizer. You can use it on your face as well... hypoallergenic.

    Heel Cracks

    1. Don't wear any sandals or flip flops. Switch to closed shoes with socks all the time. 2. Don't get pedicures, as they will file calluses away.... you want to keep the protective thickening of skin but without the cracks. 3. Use all the remedies people suggest in your socks/shoes all...

    Best guidebook for beginners

If you get the Brierly, you can tear out the pages as you go along and put the pages for your route for the day in your pocket. Keep it until you are done with it, then discard. Very handy.

Do I need pants in July? - Packing for the Camino Frances

I also changed into my shorts when I stopped for the day. Nice to have a change. Shorts and a tank can also be a swimsuit.

Do I need pants in July? - Packing for the Camino Frances

Walk in light pants during the day for comfort and sun protection, bring both superlight shorts or a running skort AND light leggings . YOu never know when it will get really cold even in summer. With this system you can layer. It can get really cold in Galicia in high summer, down into the...

    Trekking Poles

I used poles and would never go without them. I had NO ankle, knee or hip pain with them, and I had an ACL ligament operation on one knee. But please please learn how to use them before you go, well before. Months before. Practice and practice. It takes a while to get used to them-- it is...

    Guidebooks.

I took Brierly and tore out the route map every day and kept it in my shirt pocket. Very handy and you know a lot more about where you are. I avoided the electronic versions as it was so easy to ask directions with the piece of Brierly map in my pocket. It felt like a little friend... and you...

    A Spiral Stone Circle

It's small, but still a treasure to discover. Just outside Atapuerca. Take the little paths to the right of the main path in the meadow/oak territory.

Albergue Lorca , near Estella, is wonderful, calm and healing

Several other pilgrims have reported how kind and helpful Jose is. I feel grateful The Way led me to this one.

Albergue Lorca , near Estella, is wonderful, calm and healing

After having a bad night with a big snoring incident in a stuffy closed window dorm, I was seeking a bit of calm. It´s on the right side of the street coming in, across the street from the larger Bodega Albergue, which is a different business. Jose was so kind and just exudes a compassionate...

LIVE from the Camino Is finding accommodation on the Camino Frances, becoming too stressful?

I thought of this too. If you can get or borrow a Brierly, the front cover has a fold out map which shows the stages. You could just make a copy of this to know what his stages are.

LIVE from the Camino Is finding accommodation on the Camino Frances, becoming too stressful?

Dear Cathal Ferris, please read this thread on early risers. http://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/seeking-advice-for-early-risers-dont-hate-us-we-cant-help-it.26175/ To label someone bed chasers because they get up early to walk, and walk a short distance, is unfair and fosters...
