    I took my fully loaded I pod nano, used it only on a very few occasions....soothing meditation sounds of waves to block the snoring at night, a couple of opera tunes to connect me to my fella back home & some selected tunes on the buses, trains heading home....otherwise the sounds of the walk...

    Hotel rooms rather than hostels?

    I also take this varied approach...a good mix of private/ municipal Albergues with the occasional family run pension when the sleep deprivation gets out of hand!!....also found plenty of quiet corners in the garden/ courtyard to spend the night as I love sleeping under the stars...

    Casa Màgica, Villatuerta

    I absolutely agree!!, this is of of my favourite Albergues on the Frances....we couldn't resist cooking a communal meal, in that lovely kitchen & I ended up sleeping all night out on the hammock!!....best nights sleep for weeks :-)....is Miguel still soothing weary limbs with his amazing massages?

    It's that time of year finally!

    Hi there, that's great news for me, as it looks like my Camino del Norte will begin next April...maybe booking now is a good plan..., I hope to catch up with everyone at the next WA meet up, any dates yet? ;-)

    What is the single most important thing you learned ....

    for me it was learning to be open.... to others, the experience, my intuition & the resulting shift in attitude, still working on the lessons I learned, heading back for a second " semester" this year!! :D

    I walked up & over & it was tough, but hugely rewarding, was fittish & had done some training, but were lucky with the weather & took our time ( especially good was the baguete with a really yummy garlic pate at the bar in Orisson that, combined with the encouragement of two lovely dairy...

    In absolute agreement with all the previous posts, I walked solo last year from SJPP to Finistere & enjoyed every km, either alone with my thoughts, with a newly made friend or slightly more "challenging" companion, all of which situations you can change in a short tea break at the next village...
