Hello,
Ponferrada. While in Ponferrada take day trips to The Valley of Silence, and La Medulas. Also, tour the Knights Templar castle.
Pamplona. There’s the world famous bull ring amongst so much else.
Astorga. Gaudi Palace and Chocolate museum. The latter is so-so, but it’s nice to have seen...
Padre Jose Ignacio Díaz was wonderful.
I met him in Grañon 2002.
He listened to my hopes and dreams.
He also told me where I would volunteer as a hospitalera later in the month.
He gave me a copy of Mass with Spanish on one side and English on the other.
Great man.
I walked Valcarlos route February 2014.
It’s pleasant path.
There was snow and one fallen tree I had to step over. Otherwise, a very nice day.
If the path gets a bit difficult walk along the highway.
Have a splendid time.
Buen camino.
I walked CF four times: 2001, 2002, 2004, 2014.
In 2019: Ourense to Santiago. For various and sundry reasons I kept wishing I were on CF.
I will next walk VdlP. Once completed I will most likely head back to CF.
To all: buen camino 2024.
In 2014, I started from SJPP February 4TH.
Each day ask the hospitalero what albergues are open for next few stops. Sometimes a website will state an albergue is open but it is closed.
It is quite cold out there.
Albergues may or may not have heat. Be prepared.
Buen camino.
I’ve done it several times.
I’ve proven meself.
I want to go light and tight next time.
BTW: Actually, it’s the wee hours of the morning, and I just awakened.
Going back to sleep now.
