Povoa de Varzim to Rates
Hi Duayne, Sorry for late reply - unfortunately I don't often visit the forum now, since we actually live in Povoa de Varzim! We're both well over 60 (so young!) and have done the Vila do Conde to Rates in a day, no problem. A lot depends on the temperatures during the day, as you can imagine...- andarilho

Povoa de Varzim to Rates
Have done several Caminho 'routes' from Porto to Rates over the past few years. My partner and I also cycle the now 'paved all the way' cycleway (about 14km) from Povoa metro station to Rates and beyond regularly, most recently yesterday. I walked the coastal route from Porto (Matosinhos) to Vila do Conde on Oct 13th 2017 - it was perfect, wonderful, no problems at all. Stayed at an albergue called Hostel 211 or something similar.
