We agree with Peregrina2000. We walked from Lisbon in 2015 in May and thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of it. Yes it may have a little more ‘road walking’ than some other routes (but maybe not), but that’s the beauty of a Camino. You get up and walk......dealing with whatever is ahead of...
Hi Bill. We walked from Lisbon. A little 'road' walking but it's all relative. Nothing dangerous that I can remember but a lot of hard packed paths that are very similar to walking on a road. I don't think there's any more road walking than on other Caminos. You'll enjoy it. Bon Caminho.
Agree with surya8. We didn't take any extra days but really enjoyed all the stops in the towns surya8 mentioned. Lots of little surprises. We walked from Lisbon in 2015 and you shouldn't have any problems with accomodations. Lots of varied types. Enjoy. Dayton and Karen
Hey Guy, My wife and I used both the Brierley and the Confraternity Guides in 2015. We walked from Lisbon. Either one would be adequate. Route is well marked. We're not familiar with the Wise Pilgrim guidebook. We've used Brierley guides before on other routes and it was very...
Hi, Here is a walking tour of Lisbon that I'm sure you will like. Laurie, "Peregrina2000" posted this on the forum. My wife and I did it in 2015 and it was a great way to see Lisbon. We especially liked the little restaurant for lunch, Adega Sao Roque. Enjoy. Dayton and Karen...
Jill, You couldn't have described the Hotel Dávila any better. It was like staying in a retirement home. We even had a massage that was very reasonable....a nice treat. A great town to stay in as you near Santiago.

If you have an opportunity to meet Laurie in Lisbon...DO IT!!!! She has a wealth of info on the route and especially Lisbon. We met her last year and did her 'walking tour' of Lisbon and it was great. And she's a wonderfully nice person to boot. Dayton and Karen
This video from Magwood is perfect. If you look at the video you will NOT have any problem getting through this section and avoiding the industrial areas. We walked it this May and I missed the first cut off (at the start of the video) but found it by going left at the bar you run into and...
Hi, I walked that section on May 24 and was aware of the confusion and the detour and still missed the first detour sign and ended up at the bar in Orbenelle. I was determined to find it so I went up the hill from the bar and wound back around to where I finally found the new detour. I...
Hi Davkel, Good info. We would like to add to it. We are in Tomar tonight and walked from Santarém to Golegã yesterday. The walk from Santarém was a 'crapshoot'. We opted for the 'original route' after a while and did fine for a bit but then we started running into new Camino shell...
Laurie, Thanks so much for arranging our 'get together.' Wonderful to meet all of you. For anyone coming to Lisbon be sure to take Peregrina2000's "walking tour". It was great and included a great lunch spot.......Thanks Laurie. Thanks again to Laurie for all her positive...
Hi Laurie, You gave us some hotel info several weeks ago. Karen and I arrive in Lisbon late afternoon May 5th. We're staying at Browns Boutique Hotel at Rua da Vitoria 88. We have all day the 6th and are starting walking on the 7th. Let us know where and when to meet you and we'll...
Hi, My wife and I are starting from Lisbon on May 7. We're going to Santiago and then walking on to Finisterre and up to Muxia. Maybe we'll cross paths. Bon Caminho.
