    Via Francigena official site down?

Me too, but very slow. App is back up, too. This also happened last year while we were on the VF. The app lets you download the maps. Fortunately, we had downloaded them and could still use the app for navigation. A good reminder to remember to download the maps n advance.

    Via Francigena official site down?

    The app is down, too.

    Via Francigena official site down?

Can't get into the official Via Francigena site. I've used it for years, but today all I get when I try to enter it is 'File not found". For example, if I enter https://www.viefrancigene.org/en/resource/tour/la-francigena-svizzera/ I just get "File not found" on both my desktop and my iPhone...

    Accommodations in Jougne

Thanks! I contacted La Post but they were not making reservations that far out.

    Accommodations in Jougne

Thanks so much! It looks like they have no availability for the date I will be there, September 27. I'm wondering if perhaps they do not book so far in advance. Thanks for your help, Karl

    Accommodations in Jougne

Thanks. I saw Hotel Cauronne Jougne, but what is supposed to be their website, https://www.hotel-couronne-jougne.com/ provides no information about the hotel or any way to book it. It just provides information about hotels in general, not La Caronne. Really weird. Did you stay there recently...

    Accommodations in Jougne

Can anyone recommend a place to stay in Jougne, the end of the last stage in France? Thanks. Karl

(Well deserved) Rest day in Siena.

So, in which Siena restaurant did you have the steak with generous truffles? Enquiring minds (and Siena fans) want to know!

    App - km vs miles

Thanks, but I just switched to metric in my iPhone settings and solved the problem. In the past, I mentally multiplied by 1.6 but my aging brain prefers to be focused on other tasks!

    App - km vs miles

Bingo! I switched to metric on my iPhone and now the app gives metric distances. Thanks to everyone for helping! I’ve tried to figure this out each year as I walk another piece of the VF. Next year we plan to finish the Italian section by walking from the Great Saint Bernard Pass to Viverone...

    App - km vs miles

Weird. I deleted the app and reloaded it. Still all miles. See screenshot:

    App - km vs miles

Hmm, that’s weird. I’ll delete the app and reload. 2 questions: did you download in the US, and are you using an iPhone?

    App - km vs miles

Yes, the Via Francigena from Canterbury to Rome. The app is titled Via Francigena and is the “official app of the European Association of the Via Francigena.” I’ve used it for several years and it is great. However, it shows distances in miles for both the England, France and Italy routes, and...

    App - km vs miles

Anyone know if there is a way to make the Official App give distances in kilometers rather than miles? I prefer kilometers but can’t figure out how to do this. Thanks.

Deviation after Montonero, Santhià to Vercelli

Made it to Vercelli without any problems. The new route is about 2k longer than the previous one and has one small stretch along SP11 which was unpleasant, but otherwise it was fine. One bonus is that the new route goes right by a large, well stocked, Decathelon store so we able to pick up a...

    Any flooding problems Po valley?

We’ve now walked Viverone to Vercelli; o flooding problems. Canals are fairly full but don’t look like they’ll overflow their banks.

Deviation after Montonero, Santhià to Vercelli

Thanks so much! I was planning to walk this in 2020 and downloaded the tracks. Then Covid hit. I didn’t check for changes. Lazy me. I really appreciate your fast reply. It was just what I was looking for! Sounds like you saved my wife and I from being chased through the rice paddies by a local...

Deviation after Montonero, Santhià to Vercelli

The track I downloaded from the official site a while back shows the Via going through Montonero and continuing straight much of the way to Vercelli. I just noticed that the App (published, I think by the same folks) shows the Via turning left after Montonero and crossing SP11, eventually...

    Any flooding problems Po valley?

Thanks! We are just starting today from Viverone. Coming by train yesterday it looked like the rivers were pretty full but not flooding. We should be fine.

    Any flooding problems Po valley?

We’re walking the VF from Viverone to Fiorenzuola d’Arda starting Saturday, May 20, 2023, having walked Fiorenzuola d’Arda to Rome in previous years. i’ve read about the terrible flooding in Emilia-Romagna. Does anyone know if floods are affecting the Po Valley section of the VF?
