I have not.. yet. A job change necessitated that I change my plans for a while. However, I am trying to figure out how to do a couple hundred miles of it next August. I've been researching both hammocking and tenting options!
what a wonderful journey! Thanks so much for sharing. I've long wanted to walk this way, and now I must actually plan. Thank you for the wanderlust stoking narrative. Time for this non-German/Norwegian speaker to hit the trail again.
Thank Doug. I had assumed camping would be the method to rely on, with the hope of finding some open pilgrims accommodations sporadically. Shorter daylight hours and cooler weather are things I would need to contend with as well.
I bet the Portugal and Coastal routes on the camino would be stunning then. I'm wondering how it would affect the St Olav's being so much more northern...
Hello all,
My feet are itching to get out on a trail again and this path has been stuck in the back of my mind for some time now. Im wondering if anyone has walked during late September or early October? I'd probably have about 10 days total to walk, so I'd need to adjust my starting point...
Thanks tincatinker. I think we might have got some crossed wires between us! I certainly don’t think one could hammock camp the Camino... or at least when I walked it I didn’t see how it would be feasible. Nor would I want to. My question relates to the st olav’s way where the infrastructure is...
Hello all,
I've been really seriously contemplating hiking this trail and have been thinking though the logistics. I know there are accommodations along the way, but in order to save a little scratch, I'm wondering if one could hammock camp the whole way. Sure, it seems that there could be a...
Thanks all. Just started following you Nidarosa. I've got nothing to follow at the moment, but you're more than welcome to drop in on my Instagram at any time: @donebysaturday
Thanks. I'm trying to figure out my timeline now... and so much of my budget will be wrapped up into airfare, so I'm trying to find the most economical times to fly and start my trip. Oslo it is. Thanks so much!
Is there somewhere we can follow your progress from Oslo? Have a wonderful trip!
Hi all,
I'm trying to figure out where I can start for a hike along the Gulbrandsdalen, and with my time frame it may be that I need to start somewhere around Lillehammer ore Ringebu. What is the best way to get to those starting points? Is it flying into Oslo and taking a train? What are my...
Awesome! Thanks so much. Yes, both look amazing. I'd love to do both, but need to figure which to tackle first (in case I don't get back fro the second path).
Hello all,
I've been researching both these paths for a while now. Does anyone have experience with both? Both paths sound beautiful, and I've got a guidebook for the path through Sweden. Is there a recommendation between the two?

Hello all,
I stumbled across a new (to me?) guidebook for the St. Olavsleden from Sundsvall Sweden, to Trondheim. It's broken into 29 stages and is chock full of beautiful pictures and tons of info. I'm looking forward to digging into this. I haven't been able to find a current/updated book...
I saw this post about guidebooks on the "official" stolavsleden instagram page:
https://www.instagram.com/p/BRAsOzuFWIP/?taken-by=stolavsleden
I contacted them bout availability now and they pointed me to: vildmarksbiblioteket.se
However, that site doesn't work for me. So, perhaps there are...
Thanks for this information everyone. Part off my research has been which trail to take.. .the Gudbrandsdalsleden or the St Olav's may from Sweden. Both sound amazing. part of me is interested in following the traditional pathway of Saint Olav, the other is interested in following the...
I have seen the Swedish and Norwegian sites... I love them. Just looking for more I guess. I like to be Abel to research even while away from he computer ;)
As far as Facebook... I'm facebookless so that probably wont work for me.
I'm really hoping to be able to walk the St Olav's next year. I cannot find any of Alison Raju's books. Can anyone recommend another good guide book/resource?
