Pre-Pilgrim times - photos of when you were young?

    It is called old age...

Hello all, new user. Will start Camino Frances in May'23.

Walking from village to village is about as uncomplicated as it gets. Don't be overwhelmed. You are young and look fit. Pack a small comfortable back pack (under 50 litres) with only essential clothing - one set for walking, one set for when those are being washed, something to keep you warm...

    Advice on baggage transfer

Using the accommodation to accommodation option that is mentioned by @Rick M , you don't really need to do anything in advance. Each night you fill in an envelope tag that you attach to your luggage with the next address on the outside, and the money inside the envelope. As long as you are...

Hello from Newbie - favorite podcasts, youtubes, etc.?

I'd rather see things for myself the first time. I do love the photos and posts for routes I'm unlikely to take, the more remote and difficult ones, but for routes I might walk I don't want to see too much. Just enough to get a flavour.

Wow, you have been in the wars you poor thing! I hope that those replacements all combine to give you a wonderful 4th birthday present.

    1st camino Irun to Bilbao

@Larky1888 and Buen Camino - how many days to Bilbao? I think we took 9 days. It depends on whether you intend to say the first night in Passajes San Juan or go straight to San Sebastien, and whether you will only stay in albergues or are prepared to use commercial accommodation which gives a...

Hello! Happy to have joined this forum!

The Le Puy is beautiful (I've done it twice, so obviously I loved it) but it does not quite have "the camino" feel about it, which I think is important for a first camino. The Le Puy has lots of "le sportif" French hikers out for a weekend or a few days, not so many other nationalities, and...

Hello! Happy to have joined this forum!

Welcome @Northpole! I've recently completed the Primitivo for the second time. It is a fabulous, short, camino, suitable for those who are fit. My recommendation for a first camino is always the Camino Francés, provided you have the time for a 4 to 5 week walk. If not, the Primitivo is a...

Shoes for the Norte route in June and July.

I am very surprised about the dogs @Setanta88 - maybe the locals have become complacent during Covid and are not tying up their dogs. When we walked the Norte we did not have a single encounter with an unfriendly dog. Those that barked or looked aggressive were always tied up or enclosed...

    Walking in May, 2022...

@Natale an amazing feat, but I for one do not agree with breaking the law, one that was made with the intention of keeping the local population safe. As a visitor I am respectful of Spanish rules.

    New here - and excited!

No, the washing and bathroom facilities are better (hygiene is enforced by the moderators), snores are not heard, but the welcome and shared meals (food photos galore) are just as good. Michelle will get all the advice she needs, plus a lot she can probably do without!

Booking with a Company - needing suggestions

Can I remind members to please answer the question being put by the OP? We really don't need the thread to be dragged into controversy or people trying to impose their own views. And have a little regard for newer members of the forum who are likely to be sensitive to other members taking...

All booked-only 286 days to go!

I think Qantas is the only airline flying non-stop from Perth to London. I expect in the next month we will see much more choice - two keen Camino walker friends are Qantas flight attendants, and they are thrilled to be back in the air again. But I anticipate other airlines will be ramping up...

    Hopping Again - Primitivo 1 May 2022

I think April is too early for the Salvador, and certainly too early for my state of fitness. Two weeks on the Camino Francés I'm hoping will get us trail ready for the Primitivo. We will tackle the Napoleon, but over two days. Besides, I'm keen for my friend Robyn to experience the Napoleon...
