There is a map somewhere on the forum that shows the location of all forum members. I can't seem to find it now. Maybe someone will post a link to it and you can find others in or near Hamburg.
I believe the journey and the experience is the point of the pilgrimage. The Compostela IMHO is akin to a postcard or souvenir - a nice reminder of the journey.
Welcome to the forum. I have done the Ingles twice and loved it. I understand there have been some recent changes to the route and I'm sure we would all love to see your report of experiences once you finish.
I have also found, aside from the breathing, that when walking up steep hills it also helps to zig-zag rather than walking straight up. That trick has helped me immensely.

Welcome and Buen Camino
Hello and welcome,
I used Bodyglide on my feet with a thin liner sock and then hiking socks. No foot problems/blisters at all. I like Bodyglide because it was very lubricating without being greasy. It also worked great to put on your waist and shoulders (for backpack straps) or anywhere else...

P.S. Merry Christmas to all...
