Note: when using digital methods to purchase tickets in advance, I tend to find the dedicated apps work better than the mobile websites. Just an observation.
I personally have never flown from the USA with a one way ticket. My only advice is this: once you figure out a general timeline for the return, book it. It gets pricey if you have to do it just days in advance.
Yes. I am "attached" to AA (OneWorld)... they seem to offer the best flights for me traveling from the west coast of USA. And I have their credit card... I think I've flown to Spain/back for "free" like maybe 3 times now.
Like I said before, it's getting easier for me. But for someone just wanting to go to Charmartin on their first trip to Spain. It sucks. Heck, on my 15th trip to Spain it sucked.
I may be a bit old school, I hate to say it being only 49 years old... but... after that experience I will never again use an aggregator/look for the cheapest fare. I have an established relationship with AA. They, in my experience, have the best partnerships (BA/Iberia) for any trip to Spain. I...
Yes, last time and at the last minute (2 days before departure), I was shocked when I called Iberia and was quoted $2350 US for the change for my flight back home to USA... I told the agent I had purchased the no change fee option... he said "It isn't the change fee... It's the difference in...
Note: One more thing. I have personally found the METRO a little intimidating (the subway/train connecting MAD to the desired location), given my limited knowledge of the layout of the city in Madrid and my OK Spanish skills. Last time I used it was from Charmartin -> Barajas (where I usually...
but the one to Charmartin wasn't a bay. It was parked alongside the second road. You just had to cross the street.I think, peregrina2000, you told me to do that some time back. It used to be yellow, but it's not anymore. More like blue.
So like if you just want to take a bus to Charmartin train station do you have to go to the bus station first? Like @J Willhaus says, it was just outside the door!
I always end up taking a taxi from Pamplona to SJPdP. It cost me about 100 euros last time, I literally just waved one down on the side of the street near my hotel. The bus never seems to be running when I get there... (probably poor planning on my part.) One time, however, I arrived at the...
No way! I always wondered... but then again I am always also stuck behind a sizable contingent of travelers on the escalator. And good luck with people sticking to one side with others walking up or down on the other... I usually end up taking the stairs, especially on that last part after the...
So I've always booked round trip flights for travel to Spain, but one way flights for within Spain / Portugal. I personally like to fly into Madrid because I often buy my plane ticket before even knowing which route I'm going to walk. MAD is right in the middle, with great transportation...
I can't speak for the Santiago/Ferrol trip, but from Fin, just show up a little early to go to the little counter there, and to get in line for a good seat. On that route I'd sit on the right.
I love Ryanair. Mainly fly it from SCQ back to Madrid the day before I have to bail back to the states. I find the Ryanair flight times more convenient than Iberia, and like way less expensive. Never had a cancellation, never even a late flight. I do however "splurge" and get an upgraded seat...
