Thank you. I did get one from him in 2014. But that is a good idea I will use it as my " official" shell for my pack. Yes they do take credit cards from America, just let them know that you are making a foreign purchase.- La Barre

Tickets for RENFE and ALSA now available
I have just bought tickets for RENFE (Barcelona to Pamplona) and for the ALSA bus from Pamplona to SJPDP for April 19th. There were no problems except with my cc issuer who declined transaction even though I had alerted them. But after a second try everything went smoothly. YaY, for my fifth Camino!- La Barre

You may be too early to buy online as you are looking at August. I was not able to get my ticket for April until Feb. "Bajaracer" is correct. It is 4 hours from Barcelona to Pamplona, and the cost when I booked on Feb. 2nd was 23.80E. Buying Rail Tickets on RENFE
I'm not sure about the tarjeta dorada but the ticket from Barcelona to Pamplona on the 12:10 train was 23,80 E, @ 32$, on petrabax it was 50$, so a good deal I think. Also I have "winged" it before and bought at the train station but it sure feels good having the ticket in my hand.- La Barre

Backpacks and poles = check or carry on?
As a side note, I went the checked cardboard tube route and used a rather large triangular tube from UPS. When I went to mail the tube from Barcelona to Santiago with post camino shoes,etc., a rather gruff looking man at the post office near Plaza Catalunya looked at the box with" UPS"...- La Barre
