    Celtic Camino 2018

It's true that to qualify for the Compostela you can walk 25 kms at home or in this case I'm Ireland then walk the 75 kms or so from A Coruña. But of course on the Emrald Isle there are hundreds of kilometres of pilgrimage routes http://www.pilgrimpath.ie No need to stop at 25kms! :)

Changes to the Camino Ingles - Guide Supplement

Hola This year has very significant changes to this route in a number of places. Most of them are to the good and waymarking has been seriously upgraded along the way. I captured all of the changes in the newest edition of the CSJ Guide to the Camino Ingles which was published a month or so ago...

The stone cross outside A Rúa or A Calle (Ordes) Camino Inglés from Ferrol

Hola, the only place I can think of is before A Rua where the Church of San Pedro de Ardemil is on the Left hand side entering the village. Whereas the Church of San Pelayo is on the Right. After the church of San Pedro there is a notable Cruceiro - a saint wielding a sword is most likely...

    Sarria to Camino Ingles

Hola @JillGat - if you want to walk the 75 kms from Coruña to Santiago then NualaOC has given the information on how to get there. The other option is to get to Coruña and bus over to Ferrol and walk the 118 kms to Santiago. However that would take 5 days. Please be careful with the Coruña...

    Was I lonely? No...

The Hotel Palacete has been reopened for some time and remains open. Betanzos isn't well served with hotel beds. I'm told that the Garelos is opening apartments. The Choclateria have rooms too. I also hear of pilgrims using Airbnb.

The Ingles - This might just work out...

Take heart! I'm currently assisting an 86 year old lady from England who has some serious health problems. She is walking the Camino Inglés in stages of 8 - 10 kms per day! She carries a lightweight portable chair to rest every few hundred yards. Very humbling!

    Ferrol to Santiago route change??

With the recent changes the route from Betanzos to both the albergue in Bruma and the hotels in Meson do Vento is now 25.5 kms. With the re-routing and upgrading of paths and signage the Camino Ingles is now an all weather route in my view. I suspect in future that less pilgrims will want to use...

Hi Cruisecampo - I've sent you a Private Message. The new route doesn't go via the Bar Julia but it is very well signposted. If you contact Antonio he will pick you up in Leiro. Buen Camino John

New route from Leiro to Hospital de Bruma/Meson do Vento

I was talking to some local people about that article - they say the time scale refers to the tendering process and design, planning consent, construction etc comes after. I'll be interested to hear what you think of the route from Coruña - enjoy the cardiovascular exercise!

New route from Leiro to Hospital de Bruma/Meson do Vento

The one proposed for Poulo? That's quite a bit farther on and is still only a budget allocation - it may be closer to the Holy Year before it exists. Bruma is ripe for a private Albergue or two if anyone would care to make the investment? We'll see how numbers settle down as the year develops...

New route from Leiro to Hospital de Bruma/Meson do Vento

Yes - lots of chat locally about this and the pilgrims' complaint being if they decide to walk from Betanzos to Bruma everyone who slept in Presedo the night before gets there before them. This precipitated a discussion that the longer distance pilgrims from Betanzos should get precedence at...

New route from Leiro to Hospital de Bruma/Meson do Vento

Camino Ingles - new route from Leiro to Bruma. For those soon walking the Camino Ingles I'd like to reassure you about this new route - I think it is excellent and of great benefit to pilgrims. Although there is still the elevation it is over a much longer distance and therefore is much more...

    September Ingles

Hola Al The route is much more busy than previously. This month Albergues are reporting that they are full by 1pm. It may be a small consolation but I'll buy you a welcome drink when you arrive! Buen Camino John

    Ferrol to Santiago route change??

Yes - in the last two weeks there have been one or two re-routings - most significantly at Leiro before Hospital de Bruma. There is still an elevation but more gentle through forest paths and the stage is shorter! Betanzos to Bruma is now 25.5 kms. The CSJ will release a new edition of the...
