    Sleeping bag or liner?

Starting to walk on the 5th of May in Irun, should I bring a sleeping bag or can I just use a liner. Not sure how cold the weather will in that time of year.

    Trail Runners on the asphalt.

I found a pair of Hooka One Speedgoat 3, really comfy so I bought those. Looked at the La Sportiva, they were comfortable also but they looked to delicate to survive a 900 KM walk. Thanks for all the help!

    Trail Runners on the asphalt.

Yes MEC is a very good place, I bought several items from them for my Caminos. I used Merrell Moab boots on both my Camino Frances with no problem, but they were not ideal for the asphalt & cobblestone walking on our disastrous attempt on the Camino Portuguese.

    Trail Runners on the asphalt.

Seems like hard sole is not the way to go, I was misinformed. We were wearing boots on the Camino Portugese and after all the asphalt & cobblestone walking after a few days my Girlfriend destroyed the bottom of her feet and we had to come back home. It took a month for her to walk normally after...

    Trail Runners on the asphalt.

What type of Trail Runners with rigid soles do you recommend. I did my last Caminos with boots, looking for something lighter next time. Thinking of the Camino Del Norte and it seems there is a lot of asphalt walking on that one.

    Walking Poles or not?

Saved me quite a few times from a fall going up and down hills. Did not use them going over the bridge going into Santiago last May and I fell flat on my face, only fall of my Camino (cut the side of head and bent my eye glasses). I guess I was to excited to have reached Santiago and was not...

Packing lite for the little but fierce

In April/May 2014 it was damp and cold and many of the albergues were barily heated, I was very glad I had my sleeping bag!

Packing lite for the little but fierce

6.85 Kilos is just great! I have not been able to get below 10 kilos myself. Just to make you feel better the modern soldier carries about 40 Kilos into battle no matter what his weight is.

Gloves, to take or not to take...

Gloves were wonderfull at Alto the Perdon, Cruz de Ferro and O'Cebreio when the wind & weather was freezing cold in April/May 2014.

    Gaiters or not ?

We did the Camino Frances in April/May 2014, rain was our constant companion at the start and at the end of the Camino. Also walking in and around Farm backyards, the gaiters were an invaluable piece of kit. I find that rain pants get wet quickly from condensation.

    Decorating my Pack!

I had done by a Professional seamstress using a light cotton thread. You can also glue them on with glue available at any Fabric store.

    Decorating my Pack!

Well one less thing to do, I had my patches sewn on to my Pack for the trip.

Gaiters in late April & May walking the Camino.

We finally purchased our gaiters and have used them in rain and snow on our practice runs and they have kept us warm and dry.

    When did you buy?

    - I started to buy my Equipment about a week after I saw the Martin Sheen movie the Way. I was already familiar with the Camino, the movie was the igniter I needed to get going. I have now discovered that a large group of people from my town have walked the Camino. You have 8 months to shop...

Gaiters in late April & May walking the Camino.

Well I bought Goretex Gaiters and light nylon rain pants, so I am covered for Spring rain and snow. Thanks for the advice !

Gaiters in late April & May walking the Camino.

Are Gaiters necessary in late April & May walking the Camino, because of heavy rain conditions ?
