    OK guys, what underwear?

    OK guys, what underwear?

I am on Bradypus;' side... well said. Being in Australia, my choice is Tradies 3/4 leg trunk - intially wore cotton/lyca version, and more recentlyfully synthetic versions. All dried readily overnight, did not result in chafing (to which I was prone) and kept everything in its place...

Vodafone - Setting for crossing from Portugal to Spain

I had a simialr problem in 2018 - had been told hat it was an EU requirement that SIMS cards work in all EU countries ... Went to to a phone shop not long after we entered Spain (maybe Vigo?), and was told the "it happens frequently". Bought another SIM card and all went well from there - even...

    Is this Camino clothing heresy?

Not for me... I prefer shorts, whatever the weather

Did you get tired of wearing same colours for weeks?

Too much water in handwashed clothes may damage the dryer, and wettish handwashed clothes may take too long to dry, preventing others from using the machine...

    Managing electronics

Lots of good advice - and comprimises between weight, comlexity, security, etc... I would add just one thing - better to buy a charger that fits EU power points than take a travel adapter with you. Travel adapters have a tendancy to be left behind, and an EU charger is not expensive and less...

Frivolous debate - swimsuit vs 3rd set of undergarments

At a cost of 90 grams a shot, i would take both swimsuit and a couple of extra sets of udnergarments...

Portable bidet - would you use it?

    Asolutely not!

    Boxer shorts - any recommendations

Un Choice of style of underwear is a very personal matter- what works for one person may not work for another... As a male of that certain age, I too can suffer from chaffing in the nether regions, and I have found that 3/4 length trunks work mush better than the looser boxer shorts. My...

Sleeping Bag Weight for CF in Oct: Share Your Tips!

My first Camino - Sept/Oct 2017 - I purchased a lightweight down sleeping bag - around 800 gms. Used it in Roncesvalles, and sent it home from Burgos. Would have been good to have had it one other night at a municipal albergue that didn’t provide blankets, but I survived... Did not bother with...

    Vodafone question

Lon Long answer - probably... I was told that it was an EU requirement that SIM cards worked equally well in all EU countries. However, in walking Camino Portuguese in 2019, the SIM card that I bought in Lisbon ceases to work once I crossed into Spain. The phone shop that I went to in the...

    Carabiners or “S” hook?

Yes - cheap, light, multipurpose and replaceable, but still not fully functional, IMHO - it wil unravel with use,,,
  14. LesR

    Carabiners or “S” hook?

Not a good choice, in my humble opinion... tends to unravel, even if the ends are tied off...

    Headlamp question

A quality headlamp has a very high utility to weight ratio - eve if I didn't plan early morning walking, I would still take one just for the ability to get to the bathroom and back to the right bunk in the wee hours of the morning. That said, I would be using the red lens option in an albergue...

    Carabiners or “S” hook?

Handy but not necessary... Weight vs. utility issue.

Packing List : T shirts : Merino wool or synthetic quick dry ?

My tuppence worth? merino every time... light weight, dry readily, and do not carry eau de pilgrim nearly as well as synthetics, and are for more comfortable. Lend themselves very well to layering. As another poster has indicated, ALDI ones are good...
