The podiatrist I saw in Ponferrada to treat my blisters two years ago had a similar reaction. He had to deroof one of mine, but still “prescribed” only iodine, normal plasters and as much air as possible.
I forgot what day it is :-D You had me going.
But ok, I ordered hikers wool from New Zealand last time... Living in Norway, a sheep country, i found that really stupid. Soooo, I went on a hunt for local fiber artists/spinners. And law and behold, for a fraction of the price I got a bag of clean...
I have this one (an older version): https://www.bergans.com/no/p/4582-helium-v5-40
Just over 2 pounds, framed, with ajustable torso length. Been with me on 2 caminos, and going on the Norte in a months time.
Bergans is a known norwegian brand with a long tradition.
Thank you for your input! I will be going in April/may so think it’s good to have both trail runners and sandals! Might just keep in mind that I should walk as much as possible in the sandals. Will do another rethink about the plastic “wet sandals”.
I think I will end up using the same - i have trailrunners as main walking shoe, Ecco Offroads as my secondary and evening shoe (yeah they are heavy). I am wondering if i should take a pair of shower shoes that weigh almost nothing...
Oh my! Love it - went straight to order. But the shipping to Norway is too steep for me. But it really looks like a well designed product, that I am now bugged i know about 🙃
Tampons should never be thrown in the toilet... The reason there are no signs is because it is regarded common knowledge. In Norway there is a saying to teach kids: only three things should go into the toilet, number one, nuber two and toilet paper.
I always cut open the seam along the top of the socks. I try to only cut the thread sawing the socks together, but sometimes I make a hole in the fabric as well. This is maybe not beautiful, but works like a charm for the ankles.
First - support the idea of seeing a podiatrist. It is always the safest place to start.
Now to my experience, I have walked on the camino three times. Two times in salomon and one time in hooka. I find all of these "to soft" for me. In my everyday life I literally only use Gaitline shoes (last...
I used this one: https://seatosummit.eu/products/thermolite-reactor-extreme-liner
I sleep cold so this was my compromise between a silk liner and a sleeping bag. It is also very soft and stretchy so comfortable for me as a fat person.
Pluss size camiga here! "Hated" hiking before I first came to the camino in 2016 and walked SJPdP to Logrono alone. Realised I did not hate hiking, but I hated comparing myself to everyone else and the shame that came along with that. Since than I have walked on the camino two more times...
I do not have any medical issues that I know of “just very swelly feet/legs”. What I do is that I cut the three that holds the cuff of my socks (right now darn tough ones). This makes the cuff looser and than it doesn’t cut into my leg that much.
I walked SJPdP to Logrono starting 2 weeks ago and encountered mosquitoes several places. The relatively wet spring must have been beneficial to them. Since I am allergic I had to buy supplies of bug spray which were really available in pharmacies.
I am sneaking in a question on the ecco sandals - have you had a chance to test them on a longer walk. I was going to, but hurt both my feet a week ago falling down some stairs, so all my walk have been suspended for the time being. I hope it clears up soon as I start my Camino in 3 weeks...
