I don’t like mummy sleeping bags

Tassie, I just had a look online - this bag is also a mummy type, right?

I don’t like mummy sleeping bags

I think that might be the way I'll go as well, for my next Camino. I bought a 900 gram mummy type bag a few years ago. One of my worst purchases. I like the fact that you can use your bnag as a blanket, which is what I will probably do.

    Sandals.

Good morning peregrinos, I'm starting from Seville on 2 May. I'm in the market for some wet and dry sandals for evening wear and for crossing arroyos. Keens have been recommended, but which ones for the VDLP??? I guess a good sole with excellent traction, quick drying and somewhat stylish for...

Is carrying your own backpack a thing of the past?

Not hard at all. And just two quick phone calls in the evening to make a reservation at your upcoming accommodation and to advise the transport company. The transport companies will understand enough of your English, as will most of the proprietors/hospitaleiros. You current host will usually...

Is carrying your own backpack a thing of the past?

I had my pack transported most days on the C.F. I made a reservation every day, whether I carried my pack or not. My plans/circumstances never changed enough to warrant cancelling a booking.

    Rainware....From a different perspective

Kanga other people have expressed interest in the Euroschirm hands-free umbrella. Since your friend used a regular hiking umbrella, were you able to discern any appreciable difference in the ease of use? I can't find the specs on their webpage - how much does it weigh and does it fit into your...

    Rainware....From a different perspective

Kanga, have you had any problems with the umbrella blowing about or turning inside out in the wind on your Caminos? I have friends (from the Camino) who swear by their umbrellas - I'm still a little uncertain :-)

Thanks Kanga! I'll try it out asap.

    Rainware....From a different perspective

Kanga what brand of umbrella do you use? I recently bought a Helinox with a view to using it on this September's VDLP. However I'm concerned it might be tricky to attach, and keep attached to my Aarn pack. So the search continues!

    Rainware....From a different perspective

Care with eVent, Kanga. I had an eVent Packa (I know you don't want a Packa) - I was practically dripping every rainy day, despite the eVent material and fully opened pit zips.

Home from my Camino and my feet are changed...(along with the rest of me.)

Before I started the CF in September 2014 I bought size 10.5 (US) Salomon boots which were a little too big for me. By the time I got to Santiago the boots were miraculously a perfect fit. Now all of my shoes are too small (damn!). My podiatrist is disbelieving so I am glad I am not the only one...
