Closure of Albergue at Medina de Rioseco

I walked a completely isolated 15 days on the Camino Madrid in 2014. The only Pilgrims I met and spoke with were in this lovely albergue. It is a loss for anyone on this special Camino.

Camino Madrid again 2018 - anything new?

I actually stayed at the Holiday Inn in Tres Cantos, believe it or not, when I walked the Madrid. They were very nice and I was happy there for the night.

Where's the starting point in Madrid?

The actual first painted yellow arrow at the start of the Camino de Madrid is in Plaza de Castilla!

Any ideas for accommodation in Madrid

Hello. When I walked the Camino de Madrid, I stayed across the street from the first yellow arrow in Plaza de Castilla at "Hotel Castilla". I stayed there for convenience and to get on the trail early as the first day to Tres Cantos is over 14 miles. It is not an interesting Plaza at all though...

My Camino de Madrid - Sahagún. June-July 2016.

I stayed one night in a lovely hotel in Segovia, a renovated monastery, then my second night in Zamarramala only a short walk outside the city. This gave me a whole second day to explore Segovia. The albergue in Zamarramala is brand new and was opened for me by a lovely guy who has a bar in the...

My Camino de Madrid - Sahagún. June-July 2016.

For me it was "wonderful" because of how it challenged me emotionally for 15 days, and only then after some time passed. Everyone I met was lovely and helpful. I felt like I needed much help too. It was not easy for me getting the keys for the small village albergues, as the keyholder was always...

    1st timer..Camino de Madrid mid June 2916

Be sure to print out the most current Johnny Walker edition of the CdeM guide. Then read ALL the detailed threads on the CdeM and take notes in the margins of your printed guide. I could never have walked it without the research I did ahead of time. It is isolated and wonderful!

Overcrowded? Not on the Camino de Madrid

It's the longest section and a beautiful hike up a mountain. But what do I know, I took the train.

In general, on the Madrid, I carried close to 2 liters each day. On the Camino Frances I carried 1 liter each day.

    Madrid summary

Hi Joe. I walked it alone and I don't speak Spanish. It remains the most challenging 15 days for me. But I am so glad I did it and discovered a real source of inner strength. I ate every meal alone for 15 days, and spoke only with one bicycle pilgrim for 2 hours one day. I read 5 novels (on my...

Who will be on the Madrid this April?

Wow, it's fun reading all these posts about starting off on the CdM. It stands out in my mind as the most memorable 15 days ever. Make sure you have a sufficient amount of water each day, twice as much as the CF, I found. Buen Camino!

Information on accommodation in Manzanares de Real or Mataelpino

I also stayed in Hotel el Yelmo (on Annie's recommendation) and really enjoyed it, but quite the steep walk up a long road to it.

    Starting CdM Sept. 4th

Just one year ago I walked the CdeM alone. Magical and solitary, very solitary. Buen Camino.
