After 10 years our adventure in France is coming to an end!! We sold the house+refugio and will go back to The Netherlands at the end of May: sorry pelgrims but we did it with a great smile and encountered a lot of beautiful people. Thank you!
Hi metropolly, did not see this posting yet . Be prepared on frequent up and down stages; not very high ( 300/400 m) but it goes on and on. It has been dry here for some time so no mud! Don't know how you planned your stages but the info of the amis d'Assise is very good and correct: mind the...
Little remark : the North-route is in July and especially August very, very busy ..... with tourists !! Much of the spanish people escape the inner part of spain (heath! )for a holiday at some more cooler places at the north of Spain.
Beware of the fact that it is sometimes very hard to find a...
Yes,
Luka was here last night and stayed in our little refugio Bahia. I had a rehearsel with my band so my wife had a very nice evening talking with Lonneke!
Bonne route, Lonneke !!!!
Paul+Hanneke
That's rather "strange" here !!
My wife wanted to give them our little card with our adress and telephone for pelgrims coming by for information but ...................... we weren't on the Voie the Vezelay , was the answer ............... :(
The association of St jacques in Vezelay only...
New refugio Bahia on route Vezelay-LePuy en Velay (update)
Just an (late!) update of our refugio:
We opened our refugio at 8th of August by our loco-mayor and had invited most of the inhabitants of our very little village:
Fore more pictures take a look at...
Falcon,
You can't reach Vezelay by train: that's simple.
From Paris Bercy there's a train to Avallon and the town to catch the train to is Sermizelles.
Train goes further to Avallon and NOT to Vezelay.
From Paris you have to take the train to Auxerre and from there you take the "little" train...
It's almost finished ............our new refuge for the pelgrims who take the route from Vezelay to LePuy en Velay along the GR13.
I created a simple website with some info about the refuge on http://morvan.come2me.nl/.
Photo's will follow ( it's a little mess now!)
Paul
Yea....... long time ago that I was here!
We are now living for one year and a half in France and...it's fine!
Changed my website ( in Dutch) for family and friends: http://morvan.webs.com/ .
Because of the Holy Year in 2010 we are planning to have our refugio ready begin april 2010. I have a...
Sermizelles is correct! Train goes further to Avallon and NOT to Vezelay.
From Paris you have to take the train to Auxerre and from there you take the "little" train to Sermizelles.
I think you can cross the river "la Cure" at Sermizelles and than you are very close to the path/GR13 to Vezelay...
Lynn,
There are 2 principal routes from Vezelay to Roncevalles:
1) The one over Nevers-Perigeux-Montreal following mostly the GR654 (south-west)
2) The more challenging and beautifull route crossing the Morvan from Vezelay to ancient Le Puy en Velay and after that with a connection at...
yes, that's correct. Most prices are between 10-15 Euro's for 2 persons+tent and sometimes less.
yes, i remember Nitry is a good option and afterwards to Voutenay. No problem! The wine can be bought in a supermarket also!
I believe you call it inline speedskating:
Bit off-topic but here's my equipment:
Back to the route:
After Tonnerre you can follow the road to Chablis (GREAT withe wine there and also a fine camping just before Chablis at your left) and than go southwest to (I think) Irancy , Cravant and/or...
Hi,
Are you following the Gr 654 most of the time?
Spend there only one night so I cannot say something about it. Was not impressed.
Yes there are some more good routes for bikers there: I always used them for my skeelering. Take a look at...
Yes, that is really possible: you can stay close to the Gr13 with your bike and some stretches follow the Gr13! but........... is still hard working on the bike in that landscape! Besides you need a good detailed map of the whole stretch and that means 5 or 6 maps you have to buy.
I'll did...
