We are going to walk Salamanca to Muxia in late Sept/Oct
1 What will the weather be like at the start , we already know Galicia's

2 We want to take our time and restrict our walk to 20km days. Any problems before Astorga ??
We are comfortable after Astorga having been there before.

3 Any recommendations on accommodation in Salamanca where we intend to spend 3 days .

Thanks for any input ,

Hi Thornley,
I think the best source for you is the godesalco planner: http://www.godesalco.com/plan/plata

You can put in start and finish points and then see what's in between. I think you may have a few days with unavoidable 20+ days, but not too much over that and not too many.

Since you know Astorga and the Frances, have you considered walking the Sanabres from Zamora northward? Really quite a nice option, IMO.

When I walked the Vdlp, I walked from Zamora to Ourense with someone who wanted to keep the daily totals down, so maybe my stages will help somewhat: camino-mozarabe-and-via-de-la-plata/topic8961.html

Salamanca to Astorga is mostly flat. From Granja where the route turns right 20 kms a day will seem effortless. You may want to do more to escape boredom. In March 2010 I hiked from Astorga to Fuenterroble de Salvatierra in 10 days.
