As I plan to be somewhere on the VdlP during Semana Santa 2019, I have been scratching out a list of my rough stages. I purposely planned to arrive in Seville over a week ' before' the start of the holy week to avoid the higher costs anticipated over Easter. During my researching I had been putting dummy march dates into booking dot com site to get an idea of prices and they seemed to be in line with prices quoted by others on earlier threads here on forum. Today though., I decided to use my actual planned dates for Seville 5 and 6 April.. and as you've probably guessed, they are mostly double the price of March rates. So I've decided to book only one night in Seville centre, and 2nd night in Santiponce (in The Hotel Anfiteatro Romano' this also had increased but only a little. It is E42 for the night. I would have booked both nights there but it was booked out for 5th. Some of the other places I was looking at in Seville apart from being double or almost to March prices, did not have free cancellation. Therefore first night 5th April, I've booked Hotel Alcantara ( E85 night). Both these bookings have free cancellation., so if something else pops up before then I can opt out. I have read again and again that Seville would have higher rates over Easter but wanted to give anyone else starting early, 'a heads up' that this can extend over more than just the Easter period.. I guess all April must be considered Easter for booking purposes? . Looks like March would have been the better month to kick off in Seville. (for cost of accommodation that is). I will be in Merida around 16th during Holy week and wondering if the Albergue will be difficult to find a bed in. I will be checking hotels there to possibly make a booking. Annie
