Alternative route from Puebla de Sanabria to Requejo

Hola, is there an alternative route from Puebla de Sanabria to RequejoHola other than going the normal way via the N-525?

You can follow the river for a while from the town. And eventually there is a path that goes north of the road -- but it was very wet when we were walking and so the road was a bit of a relief.

I did talk to someone who went on the path above the road and remember that they had difficulties - but I cannot remember if that was because of how wet everything was or because of the signage.
