I’m on the Camino Frances in Logrono (started SJPdP) and have been good about avoiding news. I learned today that infection and death rates are rising in the unvaccinated here and in the US. Besides getting a negative Covid test before returning to the US on Aug 18, are you aware of any other restrictions or advisories? Many thanks. (This experience is life changing.)

The CDC issues the regulations. The most recent update I see is July 6, but it seems to be that the regulation remains unchanged — a negative covid test (antigen or PCR) within three days of departure from Spain.

It can change at any time, of course, so I would check back closer to departure date. And if it were me, I would also be thinking about where to schedule a covid test.

Wishing you a continued buen camino — and if you have the time or inclination, live updates on how things are going out there would be enjoyed by many of us!

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Where would one get a PCR covid test in Spain, either Santiago or Madrid, for returning to the USA? Pharmacies, clinics? What are they costing? Anyone currently on the ground who can give information about that they are doing to get a test done prior to their return home?
Try this site but they book up ahead of time.
travelcovidtestcenter.com

You can get either a PCR test or an Antigen test to return to the US.

In Madrid, at least, you can get an antigen test at the airport...before leaving. Just need to plan the timing. Not sure about any other airports.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
