Out the door this morning after a good breakfast served by my Air B&B hosts.
On the trail and ran into deer, a snake and a grey fox within minutes of each other.
Walked through a grove of purple figs, a grape vineyard and along a riverbank for miles.
Once in Sarzana I visited several of the large churches within this historic city, had dinner and now getting ready for tomorrow's walk to Massa di Marina.

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

@Bob from L.A. ! apart from the relief expense-wise of leaving Switzerland, how are you finding costs in Italy, especially accommodation? Much difference from my itinerary? (FYI for others; I walked 2019)...I know there's variables but I think we have similar style/type preferences & both book well in advance (cancellable) so it's fair to compare. Just trying to garner the effect of Covid & inflation.

😁 Gotta love the ol' meat & spuds you've had for dinner a few times...do your eyes pop when it's put in front of you? 😋😉
Edited to add;
Enjoy being by the coast again...first time since waaay back in Calais! Bet it seems like forever ago now...

Happy trails.

The costs in Italy 🇮🇹 are extremely lower than Switzerland 🇨🇭. Accommodations are a lot less in price as well.
They are understandably higher than what you paid.
I have not had one "bad" meal in Italy. The people here definitely take pride in their cooking.
The only thing I have recognized is a lack of variety in options. Pizza, Pasta, Pork and Pastries. All really good though.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
My own pilgrimage in late September will begin here in Sarzana on Sept 28th. I am so excited to be following you. Thank you for the beautiful pictures and your notes -- deeply appreciated.
