Camino...Frances?

Hello,

I'm planning on walking the Camino in the middle of August. The heat doesn't bother me, as I plan to bring a tent and a thin sleeping bag. I have never walked the camino, however, and I would like to know a few things:

1. I am Walking from Germany. I think I can find my way to Veselay fairly easily, but from there, I don't know. What guidebook/map book do you recommend for me to get for the way from Veselay to Santiago?

2. Do the refugios cost anything? I have not found anything saying they do or don't.

3. I mentioned it above, but I really just want a good book of maps, scaled to walking distance. Where would I get that?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Brian.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Camino Frances

I would start at the Confraternity of St James website:
http://www.csj.org.uk/route-overview-pages.htm

and

France – Vezelay: "Via Lemovicensis" (La Voie de Vézelay): http://www.amis-saint-jacques-de-compostelle.asso.fr/

Other useful sites are:

American Pilgrims on the Camino: http://www.americanpilgrims.com/
Canada: The Little Company of Pilgrims: http://www.santiago.ca/
England: Confraternity of St James: http://www.csj.org.uk
France: Société des Amis de Saint Jacques de Compostelle: http://www.compostelle.asso.fr/
Southern France: Association de Coopération Interrégionale les Chemins de Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle http://www.chemins-compostelle.com/

Good luck.
