I guess that's merely a quarrel between EU and UK.

I remember that a friend of mine (Slovenian (=EU member)) wasn't treated the same (injured while skiing in France) as if he would be insured in Austria. Therefore I'm a member of Austrian Mountaineering Association. Silly and embarrasing, but that's simply the way it is. So I think there would be no problem if Ray Burton had shown Spanish health security card??? Maybe I'm missing the point, but...?

This seems to be a problem with Spanish hospitals not giving fair treatment to EU citizens with a EHIC.
