Update... We are up to 10 miles a day mon-sat. We rest on sundays. I am carrying my full pack weight of 23 lbs including 2.5 liters of h20 and dads is doing it with 15lbs. We did one 12 mile day and one 18 mile day just to see what it would feel like. The heat is brutal down hear as is the humidity. We are now starting our walks after dinner and making it back home at around 10pm. Tried walking in Crocs and hated it, the Tevas gave me a much better feel and I have done up to 6 miles in them with no problems.. I can see myself choosing these over my hiking boats in certain conditions. Dad is having a hard time with his feet. Blisters are forever present. He has tried foot lube, and numerous sock combinations with and without liners in every available material conceivable , but is now looking for a different pair of shoes. I have found a great combination I lube with a mix of 75% petroleum jelly + 25% pure silicone grease. This is basically waterproofs my feet. Then i use a coolmax liner sock followed by a thorlon trekking sock. Not one blister so far totally comfortable, unfortunately the same doesn't work for dad. We decided against booking the train from madrid to pamplona if our plane was late and we missed the train we basically threw our money away. Buying the tickets when we arrive costs twice as much as an advanced online purchase so we may decide to rent a car instead. unfortunately we still have to take the bus from pamplona to SJPDP as there is no return in either roncesvalles or SJPDP. Less than one month... cant wait!!!
