Álvaro Lazaga has been walking his 52nd camino and is now on the Caminho Portugues Interior, which goes from Viseu (or maybe Coimbra) to Santiago. Today he is walking into Vila Real. With help from his friends, he was able to get into the Bombeiros in Vila Real.

You can see his video here.

At around the 2 minute 30 second mark, he extends an offer of help — Luis Díaz and Elder, two pilgrims living on or near the route are happy to help peregrinos find lodging. In fact, Elder offers his own home to peregrinos in Lamego.

If you are going to walk the Torres and are having trouble with accommodation in Portugal (no problems in Spain, there are albergues), if you put a message in the chat under Álvaro’s youtube video, he will put you in touch with these two people.

(I am going to post this in the Portugues Interior section, too, because there is overlap, and the offer was extended to pilgrims both on the Torres and the Interior).

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

That walk in later spring or summer would be even more glorious. It goes up and down and up and down through the Douro vineyards. There’s just one hill after the other. These are some tracks with great pictures. 900 m elevation gain in 20 kms is not trivial, isn’t that about the same as SJPP to Roncesvalles?
