Hike trailer: transport between start and finish

Hola peregrinos!

I plan to do the Camino Frances shortly with a trailer in tow (Ultreia, Mottez)! I would be grateful of any advice re logistics.

First off, I know, some might feel a trailer is a cop out / overkill! 🤔 However, persistent knee and back issues mean that I struggle carrying a backpack, as experienced on previous Caminos :( Given that I plan to hike the full Frances, from SJPDP to SDC, the trailer is a necessity, for me :)

Regarding the Mottez trailer, it's quite compact, and fits into a box ca 25x50x65 cm. I will fly from London, UK, to Biarritz, France (or thereabouts). Hopefully, the trailer (dismantled) can fly in luggage as 'sports equipment'.

En route to my starting point (i.e. SJPDP), my plan is to get said box (or alternative) transported to my final Camino destination (i.e. Santiago DC). If anybody has advice or experience on transporting equipment / other from start to end point, that would be much appreciated. 😊

Muchas gracias,
Buen Camino!

Shane

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
Has anyone ever seen them sold in the shops in Spain or Portugal?
I'm hoping to wear my backpack for my multi Camino as I did on the Frances.
As I'm not sure of how my 2 new hips and 2 new knees will react I've debated the same.
I've been hoping it may be a possible purchase during if required.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

I've never seen a hiking trailer for sale anywhere along the Camino in Spain or Portugal. It's really a specialty item that you need to order in advance or make yourself.

"Overkill"? "Cop out"? - Not at all!
It's a smart move on your part to do "your" camino "your" way.
I would also believe since you'd be using the trolley to assist with a medical need the airlines should give you some consideration just like they do for those utilizing a wheelchair.
Just my thoughts.
Buenos Camino!

There should be no issue checking in a box that size.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).

Penny hi,
I'm not sure on that. However, as suggested by other forum member, purchasing in advance might be worth considering. I bought my via eBay. It got mailed from France to the UK with no issues; arrived 10 days after purchase.
Trailers aren't for everybody of course; some find the hills etc tricky. However, with a bit of research, you might decide.
Best,
Shane
