Wow - that map shows there will be no respite anywhere in spain on Wednesday.
(Just a joke now / but looks cool in Portugal 🤪🤣).
I wonder why they leave temps off in the Portugal area ?
Because it's the Spanish weather service. Same thing applies, in reverse, for the Portuguese. As noted elsewhere, the two countries do not always cooperate that intensely. For a Canadian living near the US border, this is reminiscent of home weather services!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

I would assume it is because it is a different country. In the United States we don't show weather readings in Mexico or Canada. I now live in Mexico and the same is true here. No readings from United States or Guatemala.

It was particularly evident on Sunday, when Hurricane Hilary was romping north from Baja California (part of Mexico) into southern California.

Relatives in San Diego, so I was keeping an eye on this. The US weather forecasts almost unanimously showed the flood watches, etc. as stopping sharp at the Mexican border to the south, even though that was the direction of approach of the hurricane.

Relief next Saturday on the Francis, 78 F, Pamploma. The kind Guardia were greeting pilgrims between Zubiri and next town today, handing out cards to call if need assistance. I had downloaded the app per the forum. A kind sister gave me a lift at second Fuentes at noon to the donativo. We started at 7 but I’m a slow walker. Wish I had more euros than I do on me, must send more via post from Pamploma tomorrow.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Yeah, I can personally confirm that you're a lot better off hiking on the Coastal mid-summer than in Eastern or Interior Central Portugal.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
The worst part is the humidity... about 85-90%. For Santiago it is only for the next 2 days though... we should be back in the high 20s by the end of the week.
This is so true. I was soaked in sweat and the sun cream I had applied was turning to a froth when walking today. It was like walking around Panama City, only a bit warmer towards the stage end.

37C in Lisbon! How is the humidity? I'm so exhausted and dizzy in 35C and 70% humidity in Tokyo. Keeping to the AC rooms at home, can't even think of taking a walk for the fear of heat stroke. AND I'm flying into Lisbon in 5 days to start my Nazare->Fatima->Port->Santiago via Costa walk. I'm terrified! If the humidity is lower, I can manage it somehow. Otherwise ...........? Reading may posts about the difficulty to get a bed in Portugal, specially an inexpensive one, compared to Spain, I'm feeling backing out. Anyone, any good news to cheer me up a little?

Hi Keiko.

Another Japan resident here (Kyushu). In my opinion, the dry heat of Spain/Portugal is not nearly as oppressive as the wet humidity of Japan, along with the baking UV rays. I’ve been in upper 30’s weather in Europe and it’s more tolerable than just 30 in Tokyo. If you can ‘gaman’ 30 degrees in TYO you’ll be ok.

Anyway, temperatures should be dropping in Spain within a week.

Ganbatte!

Can you tell me where you access this map please. Heading off in 4 weeks and keen to keep track of local weather with accurate details 🙏🏻

Sure. It's the IPMA website (the Portuguese Weather/Atmosphere office, and you can customize it by specifying the district of Portugal you're in, and the nearest large town to where you are.

For instance, I look it up all the time; my district is Santarém, and my town is Vila Nova da Barquinha.
Its web address is this:

The two drop-downs above the daily details give you the chance to choose your district and town. Choose the district first, and then the second will list the relevant towns in that district.

If you just want the general homepage in English, giving the country-wide forecasts, the URL is this:

Bom caminho!

Hi, I’ve got 3 1/2 days in Santiago at the end of my camino, and I’m thinking to go to Vigo to watch the football on the 15th. It is a 10 pm kick-off, so I am wondering if it is likely to get any...
