La Vuelta 2024 route and the Camino

Time of past OR future Camino
2022, 2023, 2024, 2025
Looks like the Tour de France will not directly stop in any Spanish Camino towns this year, although it may cross over with some of the GR routes for the French routes.

La Vuelta (Spain's tour), on the other hand, does cross over in some traditional stops on some of the popular Camino routes. Pilgrims that are cycling fans may get to enjoy the race atmosphere. Even pilgrims that don't watch cycling may want to be aware of these dates because lodging when the Vuelta is in town will probably be tight.

Here are a few of the start/stop towns that are on major Camino routes, that I noticed:

August 17 ... Lisbon (Portuguese)
August 21 ... Seville (Via de la Platta)
August 27 ... Baiona (Portuguese Coastal)
August 28 ... Padron (Portugual Spiritual)
August 30 ... Lugo (Primitivo)
August 31 ... Villafranca del Bierzo (Frances)
September 6 ... Logroño (Frances)

I didn't check all the various Camino routes, so you may want to check out the race map, if you'll be walking in this timeframe. Here are the route maps for all three of the Grand Tours this year...
Tour de France
La Vuelta

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

We had difficulty getting lodging in 2016 when one of the bike races was going through so it is good to know the dates and locations. Thanks!

Thanks, Bill! This is very interesting to see. It looks like stage 6 of La Vuelta will pass through Ronda on August 8th. Via Serrana walkers may get to see some of the race then.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
August 28 ... Padron (Portugual Spiritual)
Just a quick note that Padrón is not only on the Spiritual Variant but on all of the frequently walked versions of the Camino Portugues as well (certainly Senda Litoral, Coastal, and Central - not so sure about the Interior).
