Camino Frances (2018)
Hi
First time camino, booked flights at short notice . I land in Santiago at 15.20 on weds and have then 9 days.
My plan was to start walking from Triacastela and figure I can get a bus to Sarria and then a taxi onto triacastela but will arrive there lateish 8 - 9 pm
How far is the bus station in santiago from the airport? Or I should there a bus which goes from the airport?
Is it possible to obtain a credencial in triacastela?
Given my late arrival.. should I try and book accomodation in advance?

Any other advice around this for a first timer would be greatly appreciated

Chris

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Hi, Chris,

You can catch bus to Sarria at the SdC airport but you have to change it in Lugo. From Sarria to Triacastela I think taxi would be best option. Or just start walking from Sarria and enjoy Santiago/Finisterre/Muxia one more day.

I'm sure one of the albergues in Triacastela or Sarria is selling credenciales. But if you have enough time you can get one through the shop on this web site.
EDIT: oops I see it's this Wednesday, so get one in Triacastela or Sarria.

Buen Camino!

Accommodation in Tricastela may be an issue. I have stayed there 3 times and last July was the first time accommodation had to be actively sought out. Many places were compleo / full by 13.30.

But there again it may be fine! Enjoy. BC

Hi @Ashby Chris welcome to the forum. @donalomahony offers useful advice so if it is of any help you might want to contact @complexoxacobeo.com about reserving accommodation, they offer albergue as well as pensione accommodation and an excellent good quality restaurant. Buen Camino!

And another attempt looms, to buy a decent Poncho after trying and failing in the previous two likely towns. Anyone know where an Altos or similar might be bought in Leon, please? 😁
