Hi! I'm Tina and will be starting my Camino Frances from SJPDP on October 6, 2023. I am nervous about 3 things...starting conversations with other pilgrims, (introverted) asking questions of locals (language learning challenged lol) and making my way home from Santiago (through Paris). Other than that, sleeping, food, walking and for me this is a religious pilgrimage, getting to Mass aren't too nerve wracking. I have lots of time (flight is Nov 14) so I will take my time along the way and try hard not to worry.

Baltotrav,
See you on the 6th! I will be starting that day as well. I hope our paths cross.
Buen Camino

Getting back to Paris is easy, but make sure your budget is ready for it. Somewhere around Leon, you will be a veteran, and know what your walking pace will be. You will know what day you are likely to walk into Santiago. As soon as you feel some certainty, and you will, do two things. The first is book your accommodations in Santiago. The second is book your flight back to Paris. For that part, if you have the time, lots of pilgrims take the 3 hour bus ride to Porto for a couple of days to wind down. Book your flight from there, where the prices are lower and the choices are many. Some also take a high speed train to Madrid and fly from there. Vueling airlines have a cheap 'n cheerful service to Paris. If you don't have the time, book a flight from Santiago, bearing in mind you may have to spend the night in Paris if your flight home is early in the day.

Hi,

Welcome, looks like we might tread some of the path at the same time. Just look for the Red Gregory Pack and importantly Buen Camino!

PS. Good to see other pilgrims walking the way for Religious reasons.

I originally planned on May 2024 for my camino. I've been reading up so much about the Camino on this forum that I just changed my date because I don't want to wait to go. I haven't booked my plane tickets yet but hope to start on October 6th and return on November 13th. Flying into Paris, returning to Canada from Madrid.
