Hi everyone, Pilgrim House Welcome Center opened on March 4 for the 2024 season. As always, the team would love to meet you (or see you again!) after your Camino. The Camino can be an emotional and spiritual journey, and Pilgrim House is designed to be a welcoming and comfortable place where you can reflect on your pilgrimage. We also offer a variety of practical services that recently-arrived pilgrims often need. The address is Rua Nova, 19, Santiago de Compostela, just a couple blocks behind the Cathedral. Please note we're located under some arches and can be hard to see. On either side of us are the Cervezería Rua Bella and the Teatro Principal. We're on the same side of the street and just a few doors down from Ivar's location. :) Currently there is some scaffolding going up so the building's roof can be fixed, but Google Maps will show you the location if you can't see it with the naked eye once you're on Rua Nova. Opening hours in MARCH are: Monday: 10am - 4pm Tuesday: 10am - 4pm Wednesday: Closed for meetings Thursday: 10am - 4pm Friday: 10am - 4pm Saturday: 10am- 4pm Sunday: Closed for staff rest Starting in April, opening hours will be: Monday: 10am - 6pm Tuesday: 10am - 6pm Wednesday: Closed for meetings Thursday: 10am - 6pm Friday: 10am - 6pm Saturday: 10am - 6pm Sunday: Closed for rest Whatever you find you need - and even if you don't need anything - please do come by and say hello, make yourself at home, and check out the resources on offer: * There is a living room area and a kitchenette if you need to sit and hang out for a bit. Check out our Instagram @pilgrimhousesdc to see photos. * Staff are always available to talk if you need a listening ear. * Join a Camino Debrief if you'd like to reflect on your pilgrimage with other pilgrims. A staff member facilitates discussion. * Take a 1-page journaling/ debriefing guide home with you. We have them available in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, French, Italian, Danish, Norwegian, Polish, Korean, Chinese, and several other languages! (There's something for almost everyone!) * The back room and patio are places for solitude, reading, and journaling. If you need time away from the hustle and bustle of Santiago, these quiet spaces are for you. * A curated library. Read these books at your leisure in Pilgrim House, and if you'll be in town for a few days, you can borrow a book for a small deposit. There are pilgrimage-related books, modern classics and classic classics. As before we provide laundry services, boarding pass printing, and daily backpack storage* on a suggested-donation basis. These services need to be requested in person. (*Please do not send your pack to us by mail or transport service, as we will not be able to accept it.) To be clear, Pilgrim House is only open during the day (we don't have beds) and is a non-profit, non-commercial initiative. Donations are always gratefully accepted. Buen Camino if you're preparing to go out on the trail this year! See you soon! :)
