Hi

i've read the posts regarding being able to pick up a pilgrims passport from Bilbao. I'm starting from Irun in a few days, can i get one from here? If not will it affect me being able to stay in the (rare) Alberge's en route from Irun to Bilbao?

am REALLY looking forward to starting!

Thanks for any advice you can give on this.

Vicky

Hi, Vicky,

I walked the Norte from Irun a few years ago and we got our credencial/passport at the Irun Albergue. Even if you don't stay in the albergue, you can definitely get your credencial there. I believe it opens at 4 pm. It's run by volunteers and they are extremely helpful.

Hope you have a wonderful Camino. Laurie

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Great to learn that I can get a credencial at the albergue in Irun. I will be going through there on 15th. Can someone tell me how to get to the albergue from the train station.
Thanks :D

I know that the train station is very close to the albergue, less than half a kilometer, I think. We arrived by bus and found arrows right in front of us as soon as we exited the station. So I assume you will have no trouble at all.

BTW, if anyone will not be spending the night in Irun and just wants to pick up the credencial and start walking, there is apparently a church where you can do that in the morning.

- Parroquia de P.P Pasionistas. C/ Estación s/n. Horario: 8:30h- 12:30h.

Hope you both enjoy the Norte as much as we did! Laurie

Hi there
There are 2 types of train in Irun, the "little" train that runs from Hondarriba and the "big" trains. but just ask the locals if you are lost as they are helpful - Jill

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Thank you. I'll be coming in by train from Bayonne. I presume that is the "big" train. Is that church close by there??

Hi, I am getting ready to start from Dublin early morning.Tues 15th Sept. Flying to Biarritz to start at Hendaye, on French side of border. Can anyone tell me if I can get a credenciale in Hendaye and where?
