[QUOTE="Veloancien, post: 799071, member: 88280"] We have just finished walking from Almansa to Cuenca. Here are some thoughts: A wonderful camino. Remote, beautiful and we met fantastic people in the villages. We were storm bound in Alpera for an extra day ( a gota fria) and were well looked after at the Hostal Cazador. May I add a couple of accommodation tips in addition to those already on this site? In Campillo de Altobuey we stayed in a cabin at the Cuidad Rural - very near the abbey. It was 80 euros a night which I know would be expensive if travelling on your own but we split the cost ( there were 3 of us). Great cabins, helpful people. The person to call is Anna on +34 652 908 037. We ate at the restaurant Falcon Crest by the swimming pool. The grocery shop in the village does not open until 5.30. Also we got accommodation at La Ermita 3.5 k from the village of Paracuellos. Stay on the main road - do not go into the village - down to bottom of hill. Turn left and Ermita is about 1.5k on your right. The person to call is Maria on +34 693 542 143. She will provide a fabulous meal if you ask her in advance. Best way to contact her is on What's App. In the morning it is not too far to walk back to the junction and pick up the Camino. For both these you must book. Do not just turn up. There might be no-one there. And you need to speak Spanish. Also El Rincon de Sandra in Monteagudo de Las Salinas is fabulous. Sandra cooked us a lovely meal and arranged for the shop to be opened up for us. Anyway we had a great camino despite rain and lots of mud on the last day into Cuenca. We should like to continue north past Cuenca towards Burgos in the spring but are not sure if we can manage the distances so any tips about accommodation would be gratefully received. Buen Camino.
