I'm in the planning stage for the Primitivo.

Could anyone share their past taxi experiences in Lugo? Specifically, are taxis readily available at the train station in order to get to accommodations in or around Lugo or should I book ahead?

Thanks for any assistance.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
My experience was needing to get from the hospital to Sarria and I found a taxi without any trouble at all.
The other thing to consider is that your accommodation is likely to only be a kilometer or two away from the train station so you might just walk.

The train station is 1 km away from the albergue, which is inside the walls and in the historic center. So @Kiwi-family is right that you are most likely going to have a short walk to your accommodations.

I think the most likely scenario is that there will be taxis waiting at the train station when you arrive, but I believe that the Lugo taxis participate in some app that lets you contact a taxi — their attempt to keep Lugo out of the hands of ride-sharing, I believe. In some places, this app is actually funded by the municipal government, but I don’t know much about the details of Lugo.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
The train station is less than a half kilometer and a six minute walk to the restaurant O Cincuenta e Seis. I mention this because this restaurant is on the Primitivo very near the plaza with the "Lugo 100 km" sculpture and the 100 km mojone. Also it has been reported on the forum that a sello can be gotten at the restaurant and the food is good.

Google's Street View photos are a bit old and the newer "Lugo 100 km" sculpture cannot currently be seen using it but go here and then select photos.

As for the mojone:
The 100km mojone was in the middle of a dual carriageway/avenida near the “Lugo 100km” sign… near junction between Ronda das Fontiñas and Rua Carril das Flores…

Thanks for all the input.

As said, just planning. We will be arriving after an overnight flight into Madrid and possible train to Lugo. Not sure we'll be in the mood to walk to a hotel, which we haven't picked yet.

We are arriving in Madrid on May 5th. I went online today to purchase train tickets to Oviedo and it doesn't show any train service. Does that mean the trains are sold out? Or maybe some other...
